To start smoking weed?

marleybob · 13/04/2017 18:58

Single parent. Find the days stressful and long and the evenings boring and lonely. WIBU to start smoking weed to help me chill out? Can't ask anyone in real life, don't know where I'd get it from mind but it seems appealing ?

OP posts:
UnbornMortificado · 14/04/2017 20:04

I don't know how anyone can be so blasé about being a drug addict.

orangeterry · 14/04/2017 22:10

I personally don't see myself as a drug addict .
We went on holiday for 3 weeks recently and had no cannabis and there was no ill effects .

I could take it or leave it.

Wolfiefan · 14/04/2017 22:12

So leave it then?Confused

Shockers · 14/04/2017 22:15

Oddly enough, my sister (mental health nurse) and I (I work with vulnerable children) were discussing cannabis use earlier today.

I wouldn't, OP.

WTF's an adult colouring in book..is it rude?
Smoke some weed if it agrees with you, and you don't let it become a problem. Different strokes for different folks!
Maybe smoke weed whist doing an adult colouring book?

SpreadYourHappiness · 14/04/2017 22:45

Zafodbeeblbrox10 No, an adult colouring book is not rude. It contains complex patterns for adults to colour in.

Katie0705 · 14/04/2017 22:52

Floralcouch if only that were true!

Weed is a killer just as much as alcohol

Zafodbeeblbrox10 · 14/04/2017 22:55

spread - that sounds a bit mind numbing to me, why not just do some actual drawing? But as I said " different strokes for different folks"

Miffer · 14/04/2017 23:04

I sometimes toy with the idea of taking it up again. I don't think I would though. I like to play computer games to relax and unwind now.

I find some of the attitudes on here a bit hysterical.

Flowerydems · 14/04/2017 23:16

Yep, you really would

Dumbo412 · 14/04/2017 23:36

I've often thought this,
My non judgemental stance on this is;
If you smoke weed, however minor this law is, you are breaking the law if you smoke it, as a mum i think it's my/our responsibility to stay on the right side of!

I also believe that whilst it is brilliant for many with anxiety, there is a risk it can make anxiety worse. Not a risk I'm willing to take.

And last but not least, If something happens I'd prefer to have my wits about me, and be able to deal with any situation that could possibly arise.

What about meditation? When really struggling to deal with stress which exacerbates anxiety I always start meditating again. It can be so helpful.

Dumbo412 · 14/04/2017 23:47

Oh and marleybob, please don't take up drinking in the evenings, you sound lonely, stressed and in need of an outlet. Alcohol is more likely to become a crutch used in These circumstances.

ShowMeWhatYouGot · 15/04/2017 00:05

Don't waste your money, seriously put it into something productive for you and your children.

OkPedro · 15/04/2017 00:13

unborn I know you've had addiction problems but honestly not everyone who has the odd joint is an addict Confused
I took a lot of drugs in my teens but I was never an addict. I actually started with alcohol so what does that tell you..

orangeterry · 15/04/2017 07:06

wolfie Confused because I don't want to?
We enjoy it

We both have jobs , it's not putting us under any financial stress , it doesn't negatively affect our family so I'm not going to stop doing something I enjoy

AwaywiththePixies27 · 15/04/2017 07:32

Single parent here too.
Yes YABU.

Have a bubble bath instead. They're cheaper and a lot less addictive.

OrangeFluff · 15/04/2017 09:37

Katie you have posted: Weed is a killer just as much as alcohol

Do you have any statistics to back up this statement? The Office of National Statistics would disagree with you.

UnbornMortificado · 15/04/2017 10:47

Ok I wasn't talking about occasional usage.

I was referring to smoking it every night, I'm hardly judging anyone for it, I've always been honest about my past issues.

I think it's dangerous and it gets downplayed
a lot on here.

SarcasmMode · 15/04/2017 10:56

Long term, physically alcohol does more damage than weed.

But as alcohol is legal it is controlled so you know exactly how much you are having so you can minimise the amount of damage.

Using cannabis without it being prescribed, you have no idea of the strength.

Having a joint once in a blue may be OK for you - but it may not.

I'd have a glass of wine and do something arts and crafts based - you could even make stuff to sell on Etsy.

OrangeFluff · 15/04/2017 11:05

Sarcasm Should cannabis be legal then? So it can be controlled in the same way as alcohol?

SarcasmMode · 15/04/2017 13:50

My sisters best friends brother died in part due to psychosis brought on by weed, though unsure if he had other drugs in his system too.

SarcasmMode · 15/04/2017 13:57

Yes Orange I think it should. It also means if there are any ill effects then the user can seek help without worrying about it being prosecutable.

I do think it should be in very specialist shops though - not in your local Lidl's.

missmarplesknittingcoach · 15/04/2017 18:50

Painting is very therapeutic. Maybe you could paint your bridge in your spare time Wink.
