To start smoking weed?

marleybob · 13/04/2017 18:58

Single parent. Find the days stressful and long and the evenings boring and lonely. WIBU to start smoking weed to help me chill out? Can't ask anyone in real life, don't know where I'd get it from mind but it seems appealing ?

Schizophrenia by itself affects 1/100 people in the uk.

gamerchick · 13/04/2017 20:52

If you want to be a loser then crack on. Associate with scum, I'll bet dealers can be quite pleasant after they've had some poor bugger suck them off to pay off a bill. They may even drop off at your house when your bairns asleep. Good stuff.

For weed?Hmm Lmfao, tabloid, movie fuelled hysteria, just watch reefer madness OP its a documentary Hmm Grin

RedStripeIassie · 13/04/2017 21:31

blueda that's what I thought re: SS not being interested but I've heard different from a reliable source.

Op: taking up any 'relaxing' hobby is tempting especially when you've got sole responcibility for a child I understand that but (if this is genuine) of course it's not the answer! More support, someone to talk to, mumsnetting are all good.

My (sort of) dh bought £300 worth of weed in London today, took it on a train in the mid afternoon and popped round my and our 3 yr olds place on the way back to say hi and doesn't see an issue with any of that. Actions of a sane man??!

Bollocks is it.

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/15062708.19yearroldmannappearsinncourtchargeddwithattackkonaaFerryhillcoupleeintheirrown_home/

Over a cannabis debt, I know this because the man attacked is DD2's dad. He had her overnight the night before the attack happened. He isn't allowed contact with her now. She's 4 year old.

That's only some of the story, he served a 9 month prison sentence for armed robbery over a cannabis plant.

Monday I had to call the police as he tried to abduct DD and threatened me (I'm 5 month pregnant) in the street stoned out his head.

I could go on, it's not a harmless drug and it ruins life's. I'd love to be exaggerating but I'm not:

x2boys · 13/04/2017 21:48

i,m not po faced about weed i have smoked it before and may well smoke it again i know where to get it as my neighbours sell it but i think its an odd question to ask if you have never smoked it before.

LurkingHusband · 13/04/2017 21:51

Nope. Illegal drugs are not the answer to any problem.

Much better to stick to legal ones. Alcohol. Tobacco. Diazepam ...

Sillysausage123 · 13/04/2017 21:59

Every weed smoker comes out with 'alcohol is worse' line to try and justify taking an illegal drug.
The smell of it makes me heave and I will admit I stereotype people who smoke it as being losers

UnbornMortificado · 13/04/2017 21:59

Diazepam unprescribed is a class C illegal drug.

OsMalleytheCat · 13/04/2017 22:07

Wow... Not many black people on mumsnet

RedStripeIassie · 13/04/2017 22:10

osmalley nice bit of institutional racism there! The fuck that you know who posts on here Hmm

OsMalleytheCat · 13/04/2017 22:11

Maybe, but the pearl clutching over a bit of weed is unreal.

RedStripeIassie · 13/04/2017 22:18

I agree on some level but addiction is addiction. I'm not clutching any pearls bur I know the difference between a few spliffs on a night off and 'needing' to buy £300 worth of weed and a train ticket when your way into your overdraft.

All the regular smokers I know are pretty much even split white, black or mix race. No particular dispite the dated stereotype.

PollytheDolly · 13/04/2017 22:25

I've had a few spliffs many many moons ago. I have to say I didn't really like it.

I don't like weed though. Many tokers are in complete denial. I could go on and on.

I'd NC and tell you a lot lot more but can't be arsed...as I'm on the Wine

Fucking hypocrite Grin

UnbornMortificado · 13/04/2017 22:25

The minimising of weed is unreal.

It ruins lives.

Couldn't agree more.

SabineUndine · 13/04/2017 22:28

Don't. Really don't. I haven't met anyone into weed who didn't end up with personality issues. Fine a hobby, go to the gym, do childcare swaps with other parents, read a lot. Not weed.

PollytheDolly · 13/04/2017 22:44

The smell of it makes me heave

A combination of cats piss and stale armpits

LittleLionMansMummy · 13/04/2017 23:00

I too think there's a lot of hypocrisy from people who drink wine regularly yet frown on those who smoke weed.

But for the record, I grew out of both 'habits' around about the time I settled down to have children. I no longer have a glass of wine every night, I no longer have a spliff. It seems odd to take up a habit you've never bothered with before in order to 'de-stress'. I gave up smoking because it made me lazy, forgetful and boring. Funnily enough, alcohol has much the same effect on most people with the additional smattering of aggression thrown in.

Either way op, it's a weird thing to consider.

pilates · 13/04/2017 23:00
Biscuit
LittleLionMansMummy · 13/04/2017 23:00

Oh, but I love the smell... never did quite grow out of that!

gamerchick · 13/04/2017 23:13

I don't compare weed to alcohol. I compare it to porn. Some see it as harmless and others see it as a seedy underbelly with a wider net and a lot of unpleasantness that people would rather ignore to get their hit.

To compare it to alcohol it'll have to be made legal with all the rules that go with it.

Nellooo · 13/04/2017 23:33

I'd try learning to crochet instead. I can vouch for its relaxing properties - I've been crocheting a blanket for 2 years because I keep falling asleep in the middle of a sesh.

PollytheDolly · 13/04/2017 23:40

I recommend an adult colouring in book instead.

Peanutandphoenix · 14/04/2017 00:01

Yeah crack on smoke weed and lose your kids to ss when you can no longer look after them what a brilliant idea fucking idiot.
