...to ask if anyone's seen one of these new pound coins yet?

They've been out for two weeks now, I pay for a fair amount of things in cash but I just keep getting old pound coins in my change. Is it just me?

I have had a couple. They worked in the car park machine (which rather surprised me tbh)

Yup. Had one. DH gave it to me. He wanted an old one so he could use it at the car wash.
Anyone know why they are giving us a new one?

Four new ones in my change today - Ds1 and Ds2 were with me and took one each as did DH when he got home. Now I have one....

I've seen £10,000 worth, and we got through them in the first week and then ran out as nobody remembered to order any more. Work in a high street bank!

Happyhippy45 1 in 30 of the old pound coins are counterfeit. That's too many, so they created a new one that's a lot harder, almost impossible actually, to fake.

I've seen loads of them through work and have a few of my own. They really don't look much different; just look like shiny versions of the old ones from a distance!

The hologram is pretty different. So is the internal tracker.

Seems like one half of the thread is hoarding and the other half haven't seen one yet. Hmm, wonder if the two things could possibly be related...

I've probably missed this on the news - does anyone know why they changed the shape? Seems like a massive amount of hassle & expense (vending machines, parking machines, trolleys, lockers etc) - assume that someone somewhere thought it would be worth it... cynic

I've got 5 in my purse right now. Got them from a change machine in a funfair/arcade. They worked fine in the game machines so I'm not sure why they aren't working in lockers etc (the machines haven't been adapted at all, they took both old and new alike)

I've had three or four now - all dates 2016. I assume that's when they were made; they needed to make them last year to ensure they had enough.

None were initially released here (Sheffield) so had to wait a couple of days until they'd worked there way through the circulation and traveled to us.

I do work in my local shop though, but all the pound coins we get in now are the new ones

Nope. Saying that I don't use cash so often so not many coins pass through my hands.

I never got a Beatrix Potter 50p either.

I got some in Elgin in Scotland so they have gone quite far north.

I love basic shit like this. Wish there was a new coin or note every year in mass circulation.

Just one. I noticed it because it was slightly lighter compared to the two old ones also in my change. The edges aren't quite as pronounced as I thought they'd be.

I work in a shop and there's more new coins than old ones!

I've only had three or four new five pound notes, it's probably gonna be a while til I get a new pound!!

Not had one yet. Bet fake ones are already in circulation!
