...to ask if anyone's seen one of these new pound coins yet?

They've been out for two weeks now, I pay for a fair amount of things in cash but I just keep getting old pound coins in my change. Is it just me?

I got two in change on Friday

I had six today, but couldn't use them to pay for parking at a machine, so had to get the DC back in the car, drive to a shop, buy something and ask the man to give me old ones. Then I had to drive back and find another space and pay. I was not best pleased.

I have one, dated 2016, don't understand why. I seem to remember when £2 coins first came out they were quite hard to come by because everyone saved them because they were pretty. Maybe the same thing is happening?

The only one I've seen was shown to me by a man when we were queuing to pay for a car park ticket.

He asked me if the machines still took the old style pound coins as he only had one of the new ones. I said that I bloody hoped they still took the old ones as I was yet to see a new one which is when he showed me the one he had!

Went to the bank for change for work and got 4 £20 bags of the new ones, they're uncirculated so might hang onto one bag of them 😁

We've had just two and they were from the same shop in Wales. Not seen any around here and I've been paying for everything in cash.

Dh has to use a coin counter/sorter thing as part of his job and he hates them already, apparently "the bastard things keep getting stuck".

Went out last night and got 2 of them!!!! Would post a pic but DH used them basically right away for something else

Yes I thought they were rounder than I expected them to be too.

I gave mine to a homeless man.

Mine says 2016 too. I tweeted the Royal Mint to ask why, but they just liked my tweet 😂

AlwaysTheWinner - I got two today in Aberdeenshire. So they are getting further north.

My mum tried one yesterday in a swimming pool locker, it didn't work.
So keep a round one for lockers which have not been modified.

The Mint started making them last year, hence the 2016.

Some were even made in 2015 and are quite rare.

They don't work in supermarket trollies, my nearest Tesco has just unlocked them which I realised after far too long trying to get my old style coin in
