To ask what job you do that means you can work from home?

I am just being a tad curious and nosy.

What jobs do you do that mean you can work from home?
And does it pay decently?

International sales/account director -One day a week in office with a mix of international travel

Paid very well, was exhausting long 60+ hour weeks. If i hadn't worked from home it would have meant I had zero time to actually have a life.

Agree 20 when I was single it was incredibly lonely at times, if I wasn't in the office I could go days without seeing anyone other than the postman or delivery driver.

Husband is a journalist, I am author. It only works for us because I can work at night when the kids are asleep in bed so am on hand as a full time mum during the day, so no childcare costs. His job pays great, mine fluctuates year to year from decent to shite pay. But because we have no commute we can live anywhere so moved to a cheaper area, cleared our mortgage and it means we can live on his income alone and anything I earn is a bonus.

Civil service. Pay is OK, helps avoid massive commute so helps quality of life. Agree it can be lonely.

Boring, lonely.
But flexible, very well paid, can do bits about the house. No issue if kids are sick or gave a school event.
My next job will be on site.

Marketing sales. I don't work remotely but would be able to if it fitter better with my lifestyle.

Charity project worker. I still go into the office mainly but can work from home if necessary

I'm a Monitoring Officer - I work from home normally 2 days a week. I like the mix of being in and chatting to people and having a laugh and not having to rush about so much in the days I'm at home. Also helpful for having parcels delivered and not needing the dog walker! Could probably do more from home but it's difficult discusssing things only on email/over phone sometimes.

I work in business development for a big multinational. It pays well and it's around 50/50 from home/out on the road.

The at home but is fine, but is lonely sometimes. It's also very hard to not get distracted with bits around the house.

As pp has said dc's still need childcare, as it would be impossible to work with them around, however it does mean that I can be flexible and take them to appointments if I need to.

DP and I work from home, we're staff journalists, I'm decently paid he's the main earner. I love the freedom it gives me on the whole and the thing I miss the most is the office camaraderie, I made the closest friends at my old job. It also makes your home seem smaller!

Account manager. I work four days a week - two at home, two in the office but I can move that if needed. Means my daughter only needs after school care twice a week, and as needed I can join with school activities. Even on office days I may go in and/or leave earlier and make it up either end from home. Fairly well paid but the flexibility is so valuable to me now it would take a huge increase to make me give it up easily. I have some travel but nothing that can't be managed (husband also works four days).

I.T. Security - 2 days in the office, 3 days at home. Pays very well!

I work for the NHS. I see patients in the community but huge amounts of "paperwork" can be done by remote access via laptop at home. There is a push towards this as saves the NHS cost of running offices (heating/electric etc) and maintaining buildings (which are bing sold off to make money).

We run our own business and it's successful. We do a LOT of hours to make this work.

Most white collar & office jobs in major cities will let you wfh at least 1 day per week.

I'm a Sales Manager. I'm out for client meetings and I'm in the office maybe 3 times a month. Otherwise I work from home.

I am an auditor and work 2-3 days a week from home. I work long long hours (100+ a week during the first 2-3 months of the year) and do not recommend doing this if you want a happy family. DH has told me I have 3 months to find a new job otherwise he will be pushing for me to quit and work for his business.

Working from home saves me 2 hours of commuting and I use my hour lunch break to do housework. It doesn't save on childcare costs.
