We could round up some toddlers and get them working on our summer wardrobe. B&M do those big craft tubs with various ribbons, poms and glueGrin

Goldfishjane · 02/04/2017 11:06

this thread is making me feel better
I was thinking there seem to be so many ugly fashions around and is it just me....I'm not fashionable but I didn't think I had no eye for it at all!

so it is a relief to know others are thinking this too.

Itaintme · 02/04/2017 11:08

Those sandals would look like you had a big furry caterpillars on your feet.

TomaytoTomahto · 02/04/2017 11:08

These honestly look like bloomers people used to wear back in 1920.

Yikes chemenger you win! I bet some fool is strutting their funky stuff somewhere in those. Shock

Give us a bit of time and we will be extolling the virtues of the ruffles for covering over wobbly bits.

When skinny jeans came out we (i) thought noone looked good in them even the models (exactly how I feel about every single outfit on here). Now I'm mourning their passing as we enter wide leg high waist cut offs.... as a short dumpy person I'm going to look like an oblong. A ruffled oblong at that

Goldfishjane · 02/04/2017 11:17

Bluebiro, you don't wear if it doesn't suit you though do you? Why would you?

chemenger · 02/04/2017 11:18

Yes Lois, unfortunately it is my dd. She is, however, so much the epitome of a beautiful 16 year old who can wear anything that she probably gets away with them.

Goldfishjane · 02/04/2017 11:20

Oh I forgot to say
I saw a woman wearing all items from our S&B board, but the short wide leg ending at the kneeish trousers were teamed with....pop socks that you could see the top of when she sat down.

I guess she might not have checked what happens when sitting down before leaving the house - or in this world, it could be that showing the top band of your pop sock is fashionable now?!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/04/2017 11:33

Yes Lois, unfortunately it is my dd.Blush
Well I feel awkward ...I'm sure she knows what she's doing but if she has a matching bag, we might need an intervention. Grin

BillSykesDog · 02/04/2017 11:38

Yeah. We're getting too old. I remember in the 90s me nan's mates asking why I wanted to wear horrible boys boots (DMs) or awful shapeless potato sacks (riot grrl Courtney Lovesque empire line dresses), orthopaedic boots (Buffalos), terrible great globs of metal in your face (piercings), appalling fuschia monstrosities (day glo rave gear).

We are now my Nan's mates. It could be worse though, my nan's real mates are dead. HTH.

JustDanceAddict · 02/04/2017 11:38

Awful stuff in Top shop ATM that my teen won't even go near. We saw a very fetching yellow rainmac in there a few weeks ago that I would've worn as a young child. Who is buying this shite? Saw the jeans with skirt overlay too, plus some clothes my mum would've worn in the 70s (they weren't nice then and they're not nice now).

altiara · 02/04/2017 11:43

As a short person whose clothes never are quite the right length so I look shit at any given time, I'm quite excited about these new fashions- I can literally just wear any old crap from my wardrobe and I'm in fashion!! Woohoo! Although I've probably thrown my wide leg cropped trousers away now. Boo.

HerBluebiro · 02/04/2017 11:44

No goldfish I wouldn't buy any of these outfits now.

But. What I mean is that these fashions will percolate through. Making it hard to buy clothes without some of the features. And soon they will be normal. And I will wear them thinking I look good in them! And I won't look good! (I rarely look good in clothes. The best I can hope for is passable)

I looked hideous in low rise trousers. But for a period of time could not buy any with a normal waist. So was forced to buy the highest waist I could find. Which was still too low.

If you were to Try and find non skinny jeans two years ago it was a major struggle. And now I think people look quite good in them whereas 5 years ago I thought they looked ridiculous.

So ask me again in 5 years and some of these fashions will be normal and perhaps even seen as 'good'. I predict the ruffles rather than the see through.but might be wrong.

What is 'looking good'? I think I look quite nice/ passable in a tunic dress and leggings. But that is derided as an awful look noone can pull off so often on here.

So where do you all get your clothes? What are you all actually wearing on a day to day basis?

Majorgoodwinschickenbeatstrump · 02/04/2017 12:01

I've always hated topshop since I was 16 to now! I really can't remember a time I've bought anything from there that has lasted when I have ventured in too! Horrible clothes.

Goldfishjane · 02/04/2017 12:03

oh I know the fashions percolate and I had trouble buying non skinny jeans but I thought you meant you would wear it knowing it doesn't suit.

tbh I am not fashionable, I'm all about saving money. I'm just interested in the "keeping an eye" sense and some of my friends are fashionable so I talk to them about it but I don't worry about being fashionable on a daily basis. As long as I look fine for work, a nod to fashion is fine rather than a whole "look" pulled from somewhere. I wouldn't work in a place where I actually had to invest heavily in clothes.

it's funny though, re thinking things look awful - I have a pair of trainers I bought a couple of years ago and recently I felt the colours didn't work so put them aside...then I think, well, if people are walking around in these monstrosities, they aren't going to think "ooh her trainer colours don't quite work". Okay, maybe they are, but I guess I'll be thinking "omg that outfit is mad" on them so it doesn't matter!

TheMasterNotMargarita · 02/04/2017 12:32

😆😆😆
BillSykesDog
Indeed.
I had an awesome outfit of baggy white jeans, white cheesecloth top teamed with brown boots and lots of brown love beads.
Looked like one of Taking That 😂😂

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/04/2017 12:36

I'm wearing very boring black skinnies, ubiquitous striped t-shirt and black thong flip flops. I need to be stopped.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/04/2017 12:37

Cheesecloth! I had a shirt made of it. What were we thinking?

TheMasterNotMargarita · 02/04/2017 12:41

Shirts, dresses, vests...you name it.
I should be banned from S&B!
It was well trendy back in the day Blush.
