Just been browsing the topshop website... AIBU and maybe getting old to think that these clothes are really ugly?

I saw an off the shoulder number on a model in New Look the other day. The 'off' bit was so far down that you should have been able to see her nipple. The fact you couldn't made me worry where it was and wonder how on earth normal people would wear that?

Magicpaintbrush · 01/04/2017 21:00

I always struggle to know what the hell to wear - I know everyone is in skinny jeans at the moment but what is the concensus on boot-cut jeans? Are they still wearable or just out of date now? Confused

woodhill · 01/04/2017 21:04

This fluffy mules remind me of 70s slippers.

Wickedstepmum67 · 01/04/2017 21:04

Old enough to wear what I like and not care! I do think fashions appear designed to flatter absolutely no one except a 15-year-old catwalk model.

applecatchers36 · 01/04/2017 21:04

Shock Daily Faily that is vile
Itaintme truly awful Confused
There are certainly some shockers on this thread...

Buddah101 · 01/04/2017 21:07

I cant believe nobody has mentioned this monstrosity in topshop yet. For the days you get a parking space easily, or when you order a coffee in costa and it arrives in under 2 minutes, be your own cheerleader!

Those sleeves are a step to far even for me.

I did buy an oversized denim jacket in a couple of sizes smaller than normal.it fitted perfectly in a not oversized way. I think I'm doing it wrong.

noeffingidea · 01/04/2017 21:12

You're right, OP. They're hideous.
I was looking for some plain vest tops (what I wear every year in the summer) to go with last years skirts and couldn't find any anywhere. I know I'm old but I just want to wear normal clothes.

Sara107 · 01/04/2017 21:13

I had a rare trip to the shops today, and definitely lots of blush pink. I also noticed the midlength trousers, lots of tops with big flowers on them, and some dungaree type things.

chemenger · 01/04/2017 21:14

Itaintme my dd (16) has fluffy slides like those, but they are rainbow multi coloured. They look exactly like slippers. I am afraid I laughed.

BlueNeighbourhood1 · 01/04/2017 21:17

The skirt in the second post by OP - my DP works for a mid range clothing brand in their head office (think dress shop for weddings and parties) and says people regularly come to work dressed like this. Which always makes me smile. Where I live in NE England we never see this kinda thing but apartment in London it's a big thing.

Itaintme · 01/04/2017 21:18

They look like the mules my mum wore. She accessorised them with curlers and a headscarf.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/04/2017 21:21

I can't believe these mules are back in. I almost broke my ankle in them countless times in the nineties.

Oldraver · 01/04/2017 21:22

I've been looking for a new jacket and came across this..I think the model is thinking WTF

Not a huge fan of the frilly stuff but I love this!

BeautyQueenFromMars · 01/04/2017 22:01

Ooh it appears the trousers I thought DS had grown out of due to them flapping around his ankles are actually the height of fashion now! Guess I'll not bother getting him new ones after all...

user1488721675 · 01/04/2017 22:21

I like the jeans but the other 2 are hideous! I probably have a similar pair of those jeans already Blush

Can't stand mules or chokers, both of which I wore 20 odd years ago, they didn't look good then either.

madcapcat · 01/04/2017 22:27

I remember wearing clothes like that first picture in the early eighties. What's worse. I had a pair of braces to go with them to really channel my inner andy-pandy

ShowMePotatoSalad · 01/04/2017 22:34

I'm in my twenties and think all these are awful. I just don't get all these silly fashions. Are these actually trends right now though? Not seen canary yellow pants all over the place! And the pointy boots in the first one!! Shudder.

SilverDoo · 02/04/2017 08:12

I mean, they're just having a laugh aren't they? It's like they take bets with each other on what they can get people to buy. 'Let's see how stupid our customers are this season'.

SilverDoo · 02/04/2017 08:23

I did wonder, what with April fool's.... Would be interesting to hear what the designers were thinking and whether they are aware how unflattering and ugly the clothes are?

The fluffy slides are Rihanna's fault. Very in around here.
High waisted drawstring trousers make even the skinniest person look like they've got a pot belly, no arse and cankles.

cece · 02/04/2017 08:25

I am strangely drawn towards the fluffy sliders. 50 isn't too old to wear them is it? Grin

TroysMammy · 02/04/2017 08:30

I love the not long enough trouser fashion as they are normal length on my shortie self. I don't have to try to find trousers in the correct length or petite sizes.

There are some trousers I saw in H&M and New Look that I would not touch with a barge pole.
