To wear this dress to a wedding?

I am going to my cousin's wedding in a few weeks. I'd decided on a dress ages ago - one that I bought for my holiday last year but didn't end up wearing and haven't worn yet (perfect because money is rather tight at the moment).

However, it just clicked in my head (I'm a little slow, evidently) that the dress is essentially white. Is it too white to wear to a wedding? I'm planning on wearing it with a blue shrug, blue shoes and I'm making a blue necklace to go with it.

I don't really want to have to buy a new dress if I can possibly help it but I don't want to offend/upset anyone either.

To wear this dress to a wedding?

It's predominently blue, IMO it's absolutely fine for a wedding.

Unless the bride has made a particular request on "no white" - yeah, I've seen that happen - I think it would be lovely with the accessories you've described, and have seen lots of guests do the same at plenty of different weddings.

this is not a white dress at all, you will look lovely, even without the blue accessories. You are very kind to be so careful, hope you have a blast at the wedding.

It's not white- it's definitely not blue than anything!

I also don't get the "don't wear white to a wedding" thing. Unless you're the sort of loon that would also turn up holding a bouquet and wearing a veil then how could you possibly "upstage" the bride?! I won't have a problem with anyone turning up to our wedding in white, I'm fairly certain everyone there will be fully aware of who the bride is!

no its not - unless this is one of those 'gold/white - blue/black' things, in no way would you think this is a white dress

It's a lovely dress.

I wore a similar one to a wedding, except with pink flowers rather then blue.

This dress is so far removed from a wedding dress. What you worried about? It's very very flowery. IMO, I think too much flower power can look a bit aging (unless you are a sweet 20 something) but that's my personal opinion only.

Of course not, that would be daft! I was just going to add a train and have some female friends in matching dresses follow me around all day! Grin

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I'm having a bit of a stressful time lately, not sleeping well and it was one of those far-too-early-in-the-morning-to-be-awake panics! I will go ahead and wear it as planned!

You're being thrown by the fact that white appears to be the back ground and the blue the decoration but in actuality there's only a tiny amount of white. If it were solid blue with an equal amount of white stripes you wouldn't be thinking twice about this.

No, that's lovely - and with blue accessories even more suitable, but I don't think it would be a problem either way unless the bride is exceptionally precious.
