To wear this dress to a wedding?

I am going to my cousin's wedding in a few weeks. I'd decided on a dress ages ago - one that I bought for my holiday last year but didn't end up wearing and haven't worn yet (perfect because money is rather tight at the moment).

However, it just clicked in my head (I'm a little slow, evidently) that the dress is essentially white. Is it too white to wear to a wedding? I'm planning on wearing it with a blue shrug, blue shoes and I'm making a blue necklace to go with it.

I don't really want to have to buy a new dress if I can possibly help it but I don't want to offend/upset anyone either.

Far too little white on that dress to even worry about it, OP! it's lovely and will be fine to wear to the wedding.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 01/04/2017 17:24

This will be filed under blue dress for me.

Absolutely fine.

MyPerfectCousin · 01/04/2017 17:25

That is not a white dress.

morningconstitutional2017 · 01/04/2017 17:26

It's lovely and just right for a wedding, I hope the weather is kind as it looks very summery. How could anyone object ?

Funnyface1 · 01/04/2017 17:31

I would not be offended if I were the bride, definitely more blue. Very nice too.

Roussette · 01/04/2017 17:41

It's not even white or remotely white!

That's the sort of dress I wear to a wedding and it wouldn't even enter my head.

It's lovely. Have a great time

Bettercallsaul1 · 01/04/2017 17:49

It's a lovely floral dress, OP - I imagine there will be lots of others at a spring/summer wedding. As others have said, it is predominantly blue. The "no white" rule only really applies to all-white (or almost all-white outfits), I would say.

minesapintofwine · 01/04/2017 17:53

I have the EXACT same dress! Which I wore to a wedding last year Smile I wore a blue pashmina and hair flower and nude shoes. I was complemented on it and never once considered it inappropriate.

diddl · 01/04/2017 17:59

'Tis patterened, not white!

I'm asuming the "no white" means if yoy might be mistaken for the bride, then best not!

Noofly · 01/04/2017 18:03

My mother insisted on walking me down the aisle wearing a white dress that she had worn to my father's funeral several years before (because she was too cheap to buy a new dress). Hmm That was too much white! Your dress is fine. Grin

Pigface1 · 01/04/2017 18:08

It's lovely and absolutely fine. As long as you don't wear a veil and carry a bouquet I think you're fine Grin x

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 01/04/2017 18:17

No definitely not BU! It looks exactly like the dress one of my wedding guests wore, no-one batted an eyelid, the only reason I remember is because I noticed how pretty it was in the pictures!

redlittlesquirrel · 01/04/2017 18:24

You're being thrown by the fact that white appears to be the back ground and the blue the decoration but in actuality there's only a tiny amount of white. If it were solid blue with an equal amount of white stripes you wouldn't be thinking twice about this.

I think you are probably right about this!

MInd you, on the other hand, this is England and you're possibly being a bit optimistic with the weather

And definitely right about this! I'm hoping the weather is okay. We'll be inside mostly and I have a suit jacket to wear for when we are outside (a dark grey, unfortunately, as I don't have anything else). I'm just praying it doesn't rain!

No, that's lovely - and with blue accessories even more suitable, but I don't think it would be a problem either way unless the bride is exceptionally precious.

I don't know the bride at all - I've kind of met her (though not properly introduced) for a couple of minutes last year so don't know for sure but from what everyone has said about her, she doesn't seem like she would be like that at all. I think it's probably just me over-thinking!

If it's my size, I will wear it gladly :)

sucue · 01/04/2017 18:28

My DM wore white from head to toe at my wedding, and she was drunk in the photos. Grin

That's blue floral and pretty OP. Very suitable.

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 01/04/2017 18:33

I don't think it's too white.

Depending on the ceremony it may be too revealing (do you have a cardigan or a pashmina that wouldn't clash with the colour etc?)

I think it's a really cute dress :)

EvonneGoolagong · 01/04/2017 18:35

I love that you are so thoughtful and mindful of others feelings! It's definitely not white and looks lovely!

Had three people turn up to my wedding in plain white dresses ffs! Still annoyed years later Angry

LEELULUMPKIN · 01/04/2017 18:43

It's perfect and very pretty. You will look fab!

CombineBananaFister · 01/04/2017 18:48

Floral, not white and a lovely dress. Have a fab time Smile

2cats2many · 01/04/2017 18:49

Dress is definitely blue, not white.

OfaFrenchmind2 · 01/04/2017 18:50

No, it is fine, and very lovely!

SpreadYourHappiness · 01/04/2017 18:53

Oh what a gorgeous dress! Where did you get it, OP?

Ps. Perfect for a wedding!

MrsChopper · 01/04/2017 18:53

Lovely dress, OP. Very pretty Smile

MirandaWest · 01/04/2017 18:54

It is completely fine Smile

Here's a picture from our wedding - quite a few women have dresses with a white background and I didn't mind in the slightest Smile

Lovely summery dress especially with the blue accessories.
