To not get the white car craze?

Everyone I know who has purchased a new car in recent years has chosen white, every other car on the road seems to be white!
Fashions come & go and each to their own I know but when you buy a new car you are shown a chart full of of amazing beautiful colours, why would anyone choose boring old white? They remind me of works vehicles/vans/salesmen cars!
And sorry but nothing (imo) looks as WAG-like as a white BMW/Mercedes/Range Rover!!

I love my white car HmmGrin

Out2pasture · 31/03/2017 21:08

They are cheaper

tinytemper66 · 31/03/2017 21:09

I bought my son a car and asked which colour came free and it was white!

PidgeonSpray · 31/03/2017 21:53

I would only ever own black , white or bright yellow. We own two white and one black car.

Black or white as they are most stylish and classy, i hate those garish blues and greens, orange (!) etc they look "cheap" (altho my fave colour is actually teal haha ) Silver is too common and corporate (I think BMW sales person )

And bright yellow is due to specific classics that I like... Old fiat and old triumphs

PidgeonSpray · 31/03/2017 21:58

@blackteasplease blackteasplease snap on the love of little white fiats!

I actually have 2 white fiat 500s Grin

museumum · 01/04/2017 17:50

Our white camper has been keyed SadAngry
MUCH cheaper to fix than any colour would be.

frenchfancy81 · 01/04/2017 17:52

I love my white car! Each to their own eh!

RocketQueenP · 01/04/2017 18:23

White range rovers and audi's everywhere around here!

I quite ike it tbh but I imagine you'd have to always be washing them. I also think the trend will die off soon .

I think black is the best colour, my beautiful pride and joy audi is black Wink

DonttouchthatLarry · 01/04/2017 18:56

It's not just that they're all white, but they're all SUV's - I saw 5 white SUV type cars in a queue one behind the other at a roundabout, couldn't tell you what make they were as they all looked similar (they were all different makes).

We have 3 (different shades of) grey cars - I think they look classy and show the dirt less than black or white but are nicer than silver.

maitaimojito · 01/04/2017 19:05

I quite like metallic white on sporty type cars. We were torn between blue, black and white when we bought ours (small sport edition car) and the salesman said we would sell it on much more easily if we went for white as it is viewed as a 'sporty' colour.

A couple of years ago everyone had slate grey cars and before that red was popular. There will always be a colour that's on trend for new cars.

GertyTheGert · 01/04/2017 19:18

Yes white is "free" - I thought if I'm paying out for a new car I may as well have a colour I like too, I don't like white because of the dirt-showing factor! RaeSkywalker - the best colour for safety (vision) is yellow - dont see many about tho!

Squills · 01/04/2017 19:21

It depends on the make of the car and which 'shade' of white you choose. I have a white Audi which has black leather interior and I love it. I've had silver, flat black, metallic, black and other colours in between... white is still my favourite.

I think the worst colour to keep clean has to be black.

AppleAndBlackberry · 01/04/2017 19:31

I like the trend for beige/brown/gold cars. Doesn't show the dirt so you almost never have to wash it! I am lazy so I would never buy a white car.

Oldraver · 01/04/2017 19:56

I do like white cars but didnt buy one for the fact there are so many...plus ours is orange and sparkles in the sunlight

But yes agree with someone upthread...there isn't actually a great deal of choice of colours..

Oldraver · 01/04/2017 19:59

the best colour for safety (vision) is yellow - dont see many about tho!

I also have a yellow car...three fucking times it has been hit when it stationary...its not like you can miss the thing

tovelitime · 01/04/2017 20:03

I have a white car and I love it. I'd only get black, white or very dark navy cars, any other car is horrible including red.

user1471518295 · 01/04/2017 20:07

White is not free. None of the "every day vehicle" manufacturers have white as their free colour. They have grey, orange, blue - but not white or black. They want people to PAY not to have a horrid colour.

RedBugMug · 01/04/2017 20:07

they are usually the cheapest option. that's why

Derlei · 01/04/2017 22:04

The free white is an off white/matte look. If you want a nice shiny white it's extra

zukiecat · 01/04/2017 22:08

Doesn't bother me

It's just a car

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/04/2017 22:19

It was the free colour on our vw golf, and our fiat 500. We considered a BMW and a merc and they were both solid white as standard too. We considered various 7 seater sofa too and most had white free - the grand scenic and Toyota verso definitely did. A few others were grim flat grey but white was very common.

Meekonsandwich · 01/04/2017 22:55

I think it's like cream carpets, oooh look at my nice and clean yet difficult to keep clean car! I clearly spend a fortune at the car wash xD

Meekonsandwich · 01/04/2017 22:57

Ooohhh has anyone seen the rose gold cars?!?

I've seen a rose gold new mini, it was stunning!

Sloegin2 · 01/04/2017 23:13

I've just had a brand new car at the start of March and went for a metallic grey.
White didn't bother me, there's a lot around and I like them but I preferred a darker colour in the show room.

Viviene · 03/04/2017 07:38

I have a white car as I bought it used from a dealer and it was the only one available.

Seems to be great at attracting bird shit though.

Never again.
