Feedback and tips please. Got chatting with some girls at work, much younger. All have fab, straight, silky hair. Mines not so bad I thought, but one of them said you can tell I use a cheap shampoo (not in a nasty way - I said i used cheap shampoo and they said
It shows...)

MusicToMyEars800 - I can't use anything else. I've converted lots of colleagues to it too. I didn't get on so well with the Kuki one and there's a couple of new ones I keep meaning to try

Imamouseduh · 31/03/2017 08:04

I can certainly tell the difference in my own hair. I spend around £45 on shampoo and conditioner and if I run out unexpectedly and have to use the emergency cheap stuff my hair is a nightmare. That said, your hair is much silkier in your teens/early 20s and requires less care, just like your skin. I noticed my hair changing in my early 30s and had to up my care game.

muckypup73 · 31/03/2017 08:11

I use Aldi shampoo and conditioner and the hairdresser could not belive it,she said my hair was lovely and soft and shiny .

Nicpem1982 · 31/03/2017 08:55

At the moment I'm using an argan oil shampoo and conditioner from Tesco it's been very good.

I change shampoo brands every time I buy a new bottle as my hair to seems to get used to it.

I struggled with Alberto baslm and Aldi shampoo as they both made my hair feel brittle I also can't use treseme or fructis as my hair feels horrible afterwards

I tend to cycle through herbal essences, argan oil, and Aussie my hair is in very good condition I have regular trims and wash it twice a week

MsPonder · 31/03/2017 09:16

I use Alberto Balsalm. Its £1.80 for a bottle of Shampoo & Conditioner...never looked back. I used to use Tresemme and more expensive products like Elvive but much prefer the Alberto. My hair is much more bouncy and healthy looking! Take no notice xx

TheFlyingFauxPas · 31/03/2017 09:34

I just think everybody's hair is different. Whatever suits one may cause a nightmare for others. When you find the one that makes you feel amazing and your heart sings. that's worth paying for whatever the price. And stock up!!! I found my one.
It was called outrageous think it was made by Clairol. It was pink and my hair felt amazing. They discontinued it!

TheFlyingFauxPas · 31/03/2017 09:36

Revlon

stevie69 · 31/03/2017 09:51

ScaryMonstersandSuperCreeps · 31/03/2017 18:41

I swear by Poundland/World Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner. Can't believe how expensive it is in Boots! Shock

hummingbyrd · 31/03/2017 19:32

Omg. We made Facebook!

Anyways, I've got some tigi bed head and some tresemme to test out what my hair likes. I'm off for a bath now to wash my hair GrinGrinmy sister is also bringing round her palmers coconut one for me to try. My hair is not going to know what's hit it!!!

And now another question. Is cheap face cream and cleanser any good .....Blush

Good luck, I hope you find one that suits you. I swear by £1.99 Aldi face cream, it's fantastic and I believe it has won awards, coming out as good as some of the really expensive ones.

Ollivander84 · 31/03/2017 19:48

Botanics cream cleanser is v good, I can recommend that
Face theory (online) does good stuff
Or I loiter in TK maxx googling reviews of what they have 😂😂
Balance me stuff also nice, una Brennan too

DJBaggySmalls · 31/03/2017 19:52

Whichever brand you use, you will eventually get product build up. so its best to switch brands every bottle.
I use the Tesco own brand on my roots, 40p a litre.
Then on the length I use coconut, argan oil, pantene or dove. All available from the pound shop.

Crunchymum · 31/03/2017 19:57

75p anti dandruff shampoo from Sainsburys. Although I do use a more expensive conditioner.... usually just whatever is on special - Tresemme or L'Oréal. Nowt super expensive though.

WhooooAmI24601 · 31/03/2017 20:01

I have to use Kerastase or my hair goes mad and looks like Maurice Gibb's. Occasionally I run out and lie in the foetal position on the shower floor til DH brings more because it genuinely is that good.

My hair in my 20's was swingy, shiny and not unlike that Timotei girl's hair. Now if I don't love it and cherish it and treat it kindly it is mad and ruins my life. It's like a truculent child; I have to ply it with treats and deliciousness to make it happy.

Chloe84 · 31/03/2017 20:13

Where are people buying their avocado oil? Is there a good brand?

MrsPringles · 31/03/2017 20:20

I swear by Dove. It's amazing, makes my hair all swishy Grin

purplecabbage · 31/03/2017 20:29

Buy the best you can afford - steer clear of supermarkets and high street chemists. Aveda products are great - pricey but you use less. Daniel Galvin if you use Ocado - worth stocking up when on offer.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 31/03/2017 20:39

Yes cheap face cleansers and creams can be just as good

The beauty industry is very very profitable and many products are repackaged and sold in the companies cheaper lines

IamMoana · 31/03/2017 21:32

I use Tigi honey & oatmeal which is good for knackered hair & quite reasonable if you shop around online.

Smith1 · 31/03/2017 22:18

What about for me?
My hair is straight, fine and goes greasy very easily. It doesn't hold much volume and curly blow dries are failures!!

I like aldi face cream.

MusicToMyEars800 · 31/03/2017 22:33

I like can't do really cheap skincare, it breaks me out and wrecks my skin I go for liz earle and pixi and the body shops skincare is good too and not too pricey
Smith I have hair just like yours, I try to avoid silicones and sulphates as they do my hair no good

Sara107 · 31/03/2017 22:34

I used conditioner for ever and gave it up just a couple of years ago. I actually think my hair is better without it, you get a build up of residue over time which makes the hair increasingly dull. My hair is in great condition, shiny, smooth and strong. But very, very grey and I'm only mid 40's.

MusicToMyEars800 · 31/03/2017 22:35

sulfate not sulphate

AbernathysFringe · 31/03/2017 22:39

Talking brands, I tried OGX in the States (not tested on animals on their labels) and it was amazing. Managed to find it over here but it's not BUAV approved so will have to wait til I'm there again and stock up.
