... for those who are devastated about Brexit, how are you dealing with the fear and depression and anxiety?

Has anyone got any strategies? I am genuinely not one for melodrama, but I am devastated, angry, terrified, depressed, and I feel so utterly helpless. Nothing in my lifetime has made me feel like this, and I just can't imagine feeling like this for the next two years and beyond. I can hardly bear to listen to the news, but I feel compelled to anyway. How are other remainers dealing with this, what are your coping strategies? And what, if anything, can we DO?

Show me where i was racist, sexist and not very nice?

Livelovebehappy · 31/03/2017 21:32

Those on here who can't sleep/devastated/sobbing/terrified about Brexit; how are you feeling about the threat of terrorism, which is a threat every one of us is affected by every day? About the unrest in the middle Eastern countries which is overspilling into Europe? About countries such as North Korea and Iran developing nuclear weapons? The above is a very real threat to our existence and causes me more sleepless nights than leaving the EU. Before we joined the EU 40 years ago the UK managed fine, and we will continue to be absolutely fine.

Missswatch · 31/03/2017 21:35

About the unrest in the middle Eastern countries which is overspilling into Europe?

ARRGH. You beat me too it

Women in some areas of the middle east are under threat of rape and torture. They aren't getting ill, depressed, crying etc. They are picking up rifles and fighting their oppressors. This thread is an example of first world problems

Sostenueto · 31/03/2017 21:36

Why is everyone so agitated about brexit. All of you have control of your own lives. Your destinies are in your own hands. There was life before Europe and there is life after Europe. Maybe you will all have to work harder or tweak your lifestyles. But that's life. Stop worrying about material things and concentrate on your loved ones is my advice. Failing all that you could "stay calm and eat cake" lol!

NameChanger22 · 31/03/2017 21:41

The decision to leave Europe has brought the threat of terrorism and war to our doorstep and made it all more likely to happen. I never used to lose sleep over the future, now I do.

Misswatch - how on earth do you know that all the women in the Middle East aren't getting depressed about their situation. Have you spoken to all of them?

All problems are relative.

NameChanger22 · 31/03/2017 21:42

Sostenueto - thanks for your advice. Do you think people aren't thinking about their loved ones? Weird.

I'm devastated too. I feel like the country has been taken over by the daily mail. The fact young people don't want it but have to live with it makes it so much worse. I think a functioning opposition would make me feel better - an old friend reminded me TM only has a majority of 12. Corbyn needs to go now!

Sorry not much help really

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 31/03/2017 21:51

Sostenueto · 31/03/2017 21:51

There is no more of a threat to this country from terrorism than what there has been since 9 11 . every country is the same. No, people are not thinking about their loved ones, only about their lifestyles and what material things they may lose. If they were thinking about their loved ones they wouldn't get in such a state in the first place. You are all still breathing, all still have food and water, all still have somewhere to shelter in. There are many who do not have these things. It's about time you stopped being so weak and stood up on your own feet and act like adults not like kids who have had their sweets took away.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 31/03/2017 21:52

Where was my picture ?

My cousin trots round london with one of those

They are not my cousins

Missswatch · 31/03/2017 21:55

Agree sosteneuto

The white middle class western woman is among the most privileged on earth. Time they got some balls

Zone2mum · 31/03/2017 21:58

I quit the Labour party and joined the Lib Dems.

And I have written several times to my turncoat MP who seems to have no trouble abandoning any principles he professed to have. I will continue to do so as matters develop.

I went on a couple of marches too, which made me feel better.

And I joined the Good Law Project which is trying to clarify important legal questions as to the impact of what is being proposed.

NameChanger22 · 31/03/2017 22:00

I'm not middle class or privileged. I don't want things to get worse, why would anyone want things to get worse? Some people are just not right.

Missswatch · 31/03/2017 22:02

They won't get worse. Stop assuming the worst

NameChanger22 · 31/03/2017 22:04

Your guarantee is meaningless Misswatch. Almost all the evidence I've seen so far has been to the contrary. Things are getting worse already and we haven't even left yet.

Livelovebehappy · 31/03/2017 22:05

Breadwidow; why don't you think TM can steer us into Brexit? Pre the Brexit referendum, she was very much in the Remain camp, and has had to subsequently direct her energy into championing Brexit, and getting the best deal she can for us. I think she's doing a great job, and being assertive in her negotiations. Slapping down power mad Sturgeon has to earn her some Brownie points. She's shown she will fight the corner of the UK, and we should judge her on how she does over the next two years, and not two days into it. There really is no leader in opposition at the moment that we could trust to do any better.

Missswatch · 31/03/2017 22:07

Your assumptions are meaningless namechanger. Wait it out and see what happens

Livelovebehappy · 31/03/2017 22:08

How are things 'getting worse already'? I haven't noticed anything, only people anticipating what they think might happen.

NameChanger22 · 31/03/2017 22:10

TM wasn't truthful about which camp she was in. Remainer - my foot. The Tories put most of the likeable characters in the leave camp and the less cuddly ones in remain. People are so easy to mislead. When did we become a nation of sheep?

Missswatch · 31/03/2017 22:10

And if things are getting worse, do something about it
