Too much exposure, too ugly and just too naff basically.

Yanbu - especially the nude colour leggings ConfusedConfused

I wear them under jeans or as tights under dresses and skirts in winter as I'm outside a lot.
I go for the thick uber stretchy skin tight ones that you have to shoe horn yourself into, don't bother with the thin baggy type.

My hairdresser has a really lovely teenager as a Saturday / after school junior. Last time I was in she was wearing a cropped t-shirt and leggings you could spit through. I've never seen black see through leggings and a tangerine g-string quite so closely before! What is it with teenage girls and see through leggings, it's grim.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 27/03/2017 19:53

There are an awful lot of tight arsed judgy pants people on this thread. I save a lot of emotional wear and tear by not criticising other people's clothing choices.

They are, aren't they Happy! Very temptalicious. Grin

There's a funny noise coming from my handbag, it's my credit card saying 'Hit me! Hit me!'... Not this month or next I'm afraid. Sad

Livelovebehappy · 27/03/2017 19:55

Leggings may be naff, but jeggings are great!! Just discovered them last year and have a pair in every colour. Worn with bum covering tops though.

MiddlingMum · 27/03/2017 20:01

The trick is to buy a size larger than your normal size so they don't have to stretch over your bum and show the details of your underwear. I only wear them for hill-walking & gardening, otherwise I look naff in them, I'm too old for such fashions.

"emotional wear and tear" Grin

Prawn

I think it's the tightness of arse that is the problem here, in more ways than one

IHeartDodo · 27/03/2017 20:06

I love leggings! I wear them all the time with dresses/skirts.
BUT never anything shorter than mid-thigh.
And I agree the leggings-as-trousers look is terrible! I always wonder if they forgot their skirt...?

IHeartDodo · 27/03/2017 20:06

Should have added - perfect for hiding pale stubbly legs in a way that tights can't quite :)

lazyarse123 · 27/03/2017 20:07

I used to work with someone who wore leggings with a short top, even though she was very slim i really didn't want to see her thong (and her arse) every time she bent over. They look okay under dresses and long tops.

Gabilan · 27/03/2017 20:10

I love my leggings, always have. You might as well say "dresses are naff" because you once saw someone looking terrible in a dress.

And yes, not much point in judging people. One person's terrible is another person's stunning, cutting edge fashion.

originalbiglymavis · 27/03/2017 20:10

I suppose it's how they are worn. Paper thing white leggings painted over very large wobble bottom are not pleasant to be behind on an escalator. I'm not sure if seeing pants through makes it better or worse.

HelenaGWells · 27/03/2017 20:14

I love good quality leggings worn basically like tights under a tunic top, long jumper or skater dress type thing.

I hate cheap see through leggings. I also hate leggings with a short top for anyone that's not a child. Leggings with a belly flashing top I hate regardless of age. Personally I think neither of the above are flattering no matter what your shape or size.

I also hate joggers. They are comfy but they look awful. Again kids can get away with it but I'm really not a fan of them.
