Too much exposure, too ugly and just too naff basically.

I love my leggings - they're easy to wear, and wash and dry quickly.

Big HOWEVER - I always make sure that my tops are long enough to camouflage my enormous arse derriere.

Very few (if any) bums look good showcased in leggings,

l wear my leggings in the house, usually with a fleece top (or have throught the winter, anyway). l have house rabbits and l like to get on the floor in their room and play with them. Leggings are easy and comfortable and it doesn't matter if they get bits of fluff, hay and worse on them.
l'm no Kate Moss though, so l don't venture out in them. Mainly so l don't scare small children.

I'm 8 months pregnant and to paraphrase Mean Girls "leggings are all that fit me right now", more specifically the maternity leggings that resemble Bridget Jones knickers.
I only wear then under dresses though (as bugger all else fits).

Plus leggings are better for teaching early years than tights.

Bluntness Don't be judgy of parents of 15 year old girls please please please (sob)

Sorry. 😁 I've been through the 15 year old stage too, but this looked like the old fashioned school tights uou get, but with a bit of a wide spaced cable knit design. I mean seriously looked like she was wearing her tights and a short top. You could clearly see her underwear like you could when wearing woolly tights st school. Normally I'm not usually judgy, but this was just double take type attire,,,

Leggings are mostly cotton. As someone who tights bring out in unsightly eczema, I LOVE leggings ... but worn as tights, with dresses. Wouldn't be seen dead in them in anything shorter.

I have been living in them the last three/four years whilst in various stages of pregnancy, post pregnancy, breastfeeding etc. After two babies I am officially over them. Have gone back to skinny jeans - although these are more like leggings than my jeans from the noughties anyway. I may get them out for warmth to go under the odd dress but they will no longer be my uniform.

No way are they naff. They're definitely for me, 70 next month, but always under a dress or a skirt. I've bought some gorgeous ones at uktights that look fabulous for an evening at, say, a concert, toned with matching dress and shoes, and good workaday ones at Debenhams but I forget that brand.

My legs were kindly described by an aunt when I was 13 as 'the family treetrunks' which was true but awful. I've had a phobia about them ever since and live permanently in trousers of some kind, or a long skirt when I've lived in the Middle East.

I think they are forgiveable during pregnancy.

But they do seem to encourage the wearing of patterned jersey tunics.

Only owned a pair whilst I was pregnant as I morphed into a Weeble! Mine were from Boden and I basically lived in them. nowt else fitted

There are some horrendous sights around my area, you can actually see what knickers the person is wearing as they are so thin or stretched beyond their means...

They look awful on me but I do wear them a lot. I have "mucky" mornings with a large hairy dog, mud and a river. I usually come home, sort her out and then change but sometimes don't. I try to wear backside covering tops but yanbu. They're shite.

Meh, I'm not keen but i can think of worse things.

Judgemental people for example, now they are seriously naff.

Fine under a dress or longer tunic, I feel. I wear them a lot in summer as my bare legs are like milk bottles! Mind you, not a big fan of them worn as you would trousers or jeans ie with shorter tops and a lot of backside exposure - on any size and any age I think that just looks as though the wearer has forgotten to finish getting dressed.

I like them round the house - leggings, stripy top, Uggs or flip-flops, cardi, depending on the time of year. I see them as fine if someone came to the door, or to nip out into the garden, or even the corner shop at a push, but wouldn't go further than that.

The only thing I don't like is when they are thin and you can see people's knickers from behind. I often think that if it were me I'd want to know, but have never had the guts to tell someone I can see their arse/cellulite/g-string etc.

After my hysterectomy it was leggings or PJ bottoms for comfort. Tailored trousers were impossible.

I like my leggings. Don't care if some people think they're "naff" - there are a lot of other items of clothing I think are naff too. (Jogging bottoms, cold shoulder tops for example)

I wear leggings all the time. They are cheaper and more comfortable than jodhpurs!

Mine cost £2.50 a pair. They are thermal ones so not at all see through.

And I don't really care what anyone thinks of me :p

Depends on the legs in the leggins really. They don't hide many sins.

I have horrible IBS and wearing jeans and skirts can be painful, so leggings and a long top are a must for me for most of the year.

Leggings are brilliant!!! Matalan do lovely thick leggings, being disabled they keep me comfy and easy to put on.

However nobody, of ANY size should wear them as trousers without a bum covering top on.

I hate when people think (oh I'll just wear a thong no one will tell) literally everyone can tell. Just no. I don't care if you're size 8 I don't want to see that.

Who cares if they are naff? Sometimes you just want to be comfortable. I am quickly MNing before starting the washing up. So who cares how it looks.

My teens like wearing them with short tops- I find the Matalan Hooch leggings (in the kids bit) are very thick so they don't show their knickers.
