Ouch.

Hate to say it, though, OP...if you complain about your Mother's Day message you will look churlish in the extreme. Confused

I've got to be the only one who wouldn't actually care. Unless it was in the context of other spelling/grammar mistakes I would assume it was a mithered teacher/ta who remembered at the very last minute about mothers day cards and printed a dodgy resource off Pinterest. It's more of a proofreading mistake than spelling/grammar imo. I would obviously make sure my child knew the right way to spell it. I'm surprised that none of the more able children pointed out the error tbh.
I was a bit Hmm though when my dd's deputy head corrected her homework from 'Then the story began' to 'Then the story begun'. Didn't complain - just told dd she was right.

Oh god! That's bad! We have an ITT student who can't spell. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammer anyone? Hmm

Quiet word with the Head. That really does need to be sorted out.

There is always the chance that it's a wind-up.

TheRealPooTroll: Read it again. It is RIDDLED.

Email the Head, it is truly appalling!

I'd ring the daily fail, put on a sad face and get the school closed Hmm

I do want to cry

However I think its an exclamation mark at the end, rather than an extra L on thankful. thankful!

DuaneDibbley · 26/03/2017 20:35

You should be thankfull they thought of mums Wink

I could only make out the 'your' without my glasses. Yes it's bad but no teacher doesn't know how to spell 'you're' or form sentences. If it's real I maintain it's been printed off in a hurry without being looked at.

I was assuming it was a ! at the end of thankful but can't make that out either.

Agh, my eyes, my eyes!

I think I would have cried if my child had bought that home.

I was a TA and I've corrected a teacher when they've made a spelling mistake.

TheRealPooTroll: Probably. But it should have at least been glanced at before it was handed out.

I would let it go as a one-off.

Report
TheRealPooTroll · 26/03/2017 20:39

Or could the child have typed it maybe?

Report
Trifleorbust · 26/03/2017 20:42

I wondered that.

I remember years ago, my DS handed me a worksheet in the playground as he came out of school.

It was a list of questions about their favourite toy.

One of the questions was, 'How old was you when you got this toy'? Confused

The HT was standing nearby and when I showed her, I thought she was going to hyperventilate Grin

She walked back into the building, muttering 'heads will roll' Grin

Yes but come on, a nine-off? Grin

The comma splice is awful as well.

Report
TheRealPooTroll · 26/03/2017 20:44

A bit odd that they didn't type it all though and left spaces to write some of it Confused

FurryLittleTwerp · 26/03/2017 20:45

It's not an exclamation mark at the end.

Your being my mum etc etc would have made the last bit a bit better apart from its being sentimental shite

It would all have been typed if the child had done it.

Hate to say it, though, OP...if you complain about your Mother's Day message you will look churlish in the extreme.

But this might be something OP would have kept and treasured and it's all fucking wrong

My son has his name spelt wrongly by his new form teacher every bloody year! Luckily he's old enough now to tell them it's wrong but it was really annoying at Christmas/Mother's Day when he was younger and I wanted to keep something and his name was wrong!!!

ButtonMooooon:

I know but... You're not going to not keep your Mother's Day message because of some spelling and grammar mistakes, are you?
