Child aged about 5 in shop creating because he wants to be bought a toy cat he has seen. Dad says no. Boy makes more fuss. Dad stays calm and repeats no, you've got such and such toy at home that's similar. Boy shouts that he hates the toy at home. Dad takes boy out of shop.

Then the Mum goes back into the shop and buys it for him! Says to the assistant it's not worth the hassle.
In my opinion, not only has she undermined the father she's taught her son that if he makes enough fuss he gets his own way!
And then when she gives him the toy he doesn't even say thank you! Was so tempted to say something but managed to control myself as I know it's none of my business.
Call me old fashioned but I really don't think this is the way to bring up children!

LouKout - i never said i go around outwardly judging people and sharing every thought that goes through my brain.

I said that everyone has moments when they judge/side eye things. We do.

(though obv theres a handful of people on MN who are always so patient ajd never look at a situation and think anything other than "oh golly gosh i do feel for all the other things that may be going on for them")

It seems to be a thing on MNat the moment where you cant discuss any situation without people piling in saying "but there may be so much you dont know/why are you judging/ pull this thread/ wheres MNhq when you need them".

Side eye implies giving people funny looks.

I see what you mean.
Round my neck of the woods it doesnt mean you actually shoot dirty looks more like 'alright... what the hell' moments. As in looking on from the side of your eye rather than gawping.

I would just be thinking if my DH did that to me he would come to regret it.

If I was the husband Id be fucking livid.

Say no and mean it or say yes. Caving to exessive tantrums after however long is pretty shit.
