People bookmark their place because on the app you don't get page 1-10 you just get one whole stream of comments, so bookmarking is the easiest way of finding where you read to in a thread. Sometimes people don't have anything to add, they're just following what's being posted. Unless you want loads of, 'Oh that's awful hugs' and deviations of that if the full stop is banned.

Actually people rarely offer hugs and hand hold instead. So the OP has 30 people taking it in turns to hold their hand. I don't know.

For those on phones: i used to log in via the web page but my display went funny so I now have to log in via the app. This does have the bookmark function BUT IS FUCKING AWFUL TO USE.

How do you do blank posts? Just using spaces apparently doesn't cut it.

StartledByHisFurryShorts · 26/03/2017 08:51

Peacemaking is annoying but tbh, MN is a total pita for trying to follow updates on posts you've already read.

On the old Guardian talkboards, it'd remember where you'd got to on a thread. So you'd see something like "Thread to talk about gherkins" (2672 posts, 43 unread). You'd click on the thread and be taken to the last post you'd read. No need for place-marking.

I think this has spoiled me and everything else just seems clunky.

StartledByHisFurryShorts · 26/03/2017 08:53

Um placemarking not peacemaking, obvs. I'm not annoyed by peacemakers.

That's not how you do a blank post.
