AIBU to think Katie Hopkins is straying closer and closer to the line that separates legitimate "right wing" politics, and unacceptable "far right" extremism?

I find this article a) utterly incoherent in its argument and b) utterly abhorrent in its content....

Yesterday's attack is deeply deeply saddening- we live in London and we're heartbroken that this has happened again- but I actually find Katie's bile almost as saddening and troubling- as I fear these are views held by many many more people... sure these are just words, and yesterday saw vile, violent actions... but those actions would have begun with words of hate and anger too...

Is that what you consider Christianity in general?
Yes it is.

Are you serious? Are you not aware of any other Christian religions or groups at all?
Do you know what Christianity is?

phoenix1973 · 23/03/2017 17:55

I agree with her.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 23/03/2017 17:56

nikelarsedstirgin nobody wants to come here? There are 6 Syrian refugee families who have literally just arrived in my town to be resettled in safety and a huge turn out of locals to welcome them, organised by the local MP (SNP as it happens). I'm proud to welcome these families into our community, at nursery we've organised a welcome coffee morning too.

derxa · 23/03/2017 18:00

Do you know what Christianity is? I surely do.

EnormousTiger · 23/03/2017 18:01

So what are the solutions? This chap seems to be a lone wolf. He was born in Kent and his surname implies his family is arab, Turkish or Iranian and we acn assume he is muslim. If we can continue the good work in the UK to more atheism we will start to solve these problems. More than half of people in the Uk dont' believe in god which is a good start.
We can also bus children around so that we don't have religious segregation.
We could also remove all religion from state schools.
We could stop interfering in middle eastern countries and leave them to get on with it.

southall · 23/03/2017 18:05

One of the main problems for the security services is there's a large amount of potential 'wannabees' 99% of whom do nothing, and a few that do

Thats what they will say.

But in reality they are a soft touch to scared to arrest anyone who is muslim.
Look how long they took to arrest Abu Hamza.
He was allowed to remain free openly preach terror and for so many years.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 18:09

Do you know what Christianity is? I surely do.
And you equate it with CoE and Cos only? Grin

Well, Abu Hamza was arrested after he could be linked with actual attacks or attempts.
Constantly we hear news of people arrested for planning attacks.
What more do you want? Seriously?

Big Brother?

merrymouse · 23/03/2017 18:17

You only have to go back to Cromwell to find Christian extremism in the U.K, and comparatively speaking that is just a few generations ago.

Obviously the Second World War and it's atrocities are within living memory for many, and the last time Muslims were massacred in Europe was in the 1990s.

You can look for all kinds of reasons to pretend that only Muslims/Serbs/Bosnians/Germans/Rwandans do evil things, but fundamentally they are all just humans doing what humans do.

The first step towards this kind of behaviour is the failure to believe in our common humanity, and that is pretty much Steve Bannon's guiding philosophy. Give me Sadiq Khan any brilliant multi cultural London any day. It makes me feel safe.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 18:19

Only because political correctness stops the authorities from arresting these people

If people were arrested and locked up without charge because they might be a threat, what do you think the effect would be?

You have heard of Habeus Corpus?

Itsmytemporaryname · 23/03/2017 18:22

I tried to read it but it's just a load of confused bollox.
It's just hyperbolic rubbish about what... liberals?

merrymouse · 23/03/2017 18:42

Sebastian Gorka 'Trump advisor' telling Fox News the Westminster attack justifies travel ban.

The attacker was from Kent.

Are they adding the UK?

Lweji · 23/03/2017 18:47

Love that article.

"YOU LIVE IN DEVON, MATE. I’m not going to say where, because it’s not fair to cause a house price crash (and her exact location may be covered by some sort of Shitness Protection Programme)."

southall · 23/03/2017 18:47

MI5 shares intel with the US, so yesterdays terrorist was already banned from travelling to the US. You can bet on that.

IgglePigglesDildo · 23/03/2017 18:51

God bless his beautiful, intelligent and courageous woman. She speaks the truth. If only the fools in this country would listen.

LouKout · 23/03/2017 18:52

I think you've been spending too much time up igglepiggles bum.

hannashanoi · 23/03/2017 18:53

Why are we going on about other religions. Its the same every time there's a muslim act of terror. Hmm

I wish Katie was our PM she would be our female version of President Trump.

Im hoping Le Penn will pull off a shock result just like Brexit and Trump.

But somehow i doubt he French will have guts to do it.

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2017 19:01

There are several thousand people who have come to the interest of the security services.
Sometimes it's just clicking a few links out of curiosity.
Going on an anti-war demonstration
Sometimes it's more.

To arrest people, the police need evidence they have committed, or are planning to commit, a crime.
Do you want people locked up on suspicion they might commit a crime in a few months or years, or decades ?

That's internment without trial.
Back in the Troubles, internment was a great recruiting agent for the IRA
For outraged young Catholics, it turned a bunch of terrorists into freedom fighters

Is it "political correctness" if we don't impose internment ?

Doowappydoo · 23/03/2017 19:04

*But in reality they are a soft touch to scared to arrest anyone who is muslim**

But lots of muslims are arrested - the man who did this had been arrested and convicted a number of times. You can't arrest someone if you don't have a reasonable suspicion they have committed a criminal offence, you can't convict someone unless you can prove it beyond reasonable doubt. We have a system where you are innocent until proven guilty and freedom of speech in this country (which means that we all have to listen to people saying various things we find offensive or don't agree with - Katie Hopkins for one). We are a civilised society and these are our values - what are you suggesting? We arrest people because they are Muslim?

merrymouse · 23/03/2017 19:05

Yes, but an attack carried out by a British citizen on London does not justify banning people from entering America based on their country of birth and it has nothing to do with refugees.

If only the fools in this country would listen.

She spreads hate and encourages division, which was the point of the attack.

However from Hopkins' point of view spreading hate makes money (until, it costs her lots and lots of money).

ToastDemon · 23/03/2017 19:07

Oh, the fools are listening to her alright Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2017 19:08

Why are some Brexiters supporting European fascists ?
It's hardly "British values"

Now should I demand other Brexiters condemn them ?

My late dad fought fascists in WW2. He fought at Dunkirk and fought right up to 1945
After all he and his mates suffered and fought for, wtf are British "patriots" turning to fascism ?

Hitler must be laughing his socks off in hell. Has that evil bastard had the last laugh after all ?
