AIBU to think Katie Hopkins is straying closer and closer to the line that separates legitimate "right wing" politics, and unacceptable "far right" extremism?

I find this article a) utterly incoherent in its argument and b) utterly abhorrent in its content....

Yesterday's attack is deeply deeply saddening- we live in London and we're heartbroken that this has happened again- but I actually find Katie's bile almost as saddening and troubling- as I fear these are views held by many many more people... sure these are just words, and yesterday saw vile, violent actions... but those actions would have begun with words of hate and anger too...

Although I can't stand the hearts and tealights-

I get it, but if you are a relative of someone who died you might find it comforting.

ghostyslovesheets · 23/03/2017 14:50

What I mean is both believe Islam is a violent vengeful faith, both believe Islam is at war with the west , both Seem to lump people together i.e. All Muslim bad - all westerners bad - all fair targets

Lweji · 23/03/2017 14:50

egosumquisum1

Ego, it would be funny, if it wasn't SAD.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 14:52

Trump has been quiet on this.

I have no doubt he would have said something if it had been a foreign terrorist.

But it's home grown. And that's a problem in a country where people can buy guns. FACT.

Even people on terrorist watch lists can buy guns. FACT.

I love saying FACT.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 14:52

Hitler himself was the leader of the nationalist socialist party Hmm so yes... I am appalled by all fascism whether on the left or the right. It doesn't need to be affiliated with the right at all.

FarAwayHills · 23/03/2017 14:53

Here we have an angry man looking for a cause, somewhere to lay the blame for his own failure, the answer is a few clicks away, simply shift the blame to Western values and Islamaphobia holding him back. This bigotry can't be stopped unless it is recognised.

This

The majority of those that carry out these attacks are angry, disillusioned young males who find solace in a cause and somewhere to channel their anger. We cannot fight this situation with more bigotry which will just add fuel to the hatred and inspire others to join. People like KH are doing just that.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 14:54

It must fuck up some people's minds to say that Muslims should be allowed to buy guns and at the same time say 'Muslims are potential terrorists' when home grown terror happens.

ghostyslovesheets · 23/03/2017 14:55

Fact 😀

squishysquirmy · 23/03/2017 14:57

Yeah.
I heard someone point out on the radio earlier how much worse this incident could have been if the attacker was armed with a gun when he ran at the Houses of parliament.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 14:59

Yes it is shocking the carnage someone can create with just their car and a kitchen knife.

Bloody awful.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2017 15:01

"This needs to stop."

Well, give that woman a Mesdames! Why did no one think of this?! .... Hmm

We have whole teams of people employed solely to stop terrorism and protect us from it!
Regular Joe public are going about their lives because what else can we do?! Cower in our houses and burn anyone that may look a bit like they might be Muslim?! No, we can't because that would make us like them, murdering in cold blood because they believe something other than what we do. (Whoever we is, because let's face it, no two people are the same)

Katie Hopkins is paid to shock people with her blunt words, she would write anything about anyone if given enough money and publicity, she's a parasite.
It's scary the amount of people once again crawling out their holes to demand we close our boarders and stop letting them in, we'll great but that wouldn't have stopped yesterday's events because that man was born and raised here, he was British.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2017 15:02

I can't even begin to correct the typos in that last post, apologies, I blame the lack of oxygen and painkillers I'm currently living with. Blush

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 15:03

Well, given most of our terrorism is home grown, I think everyone, including KH, accepts that solutions have to be domestic.

These attacks - across Europe - show how fragmented all our cultures are.

CalmItKermitt · 23/03/2017 15:12

Hmm. Well obviously KH is a repellent human being but that doesn't necessarily mean she's always wrong.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 15:14

Well obviously KH is a repellent human being but that doesn't necessarily mean she's always wrong.

I'm sure she's right about many a few things, but what exactly did you have in mind?

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 15:17

Yes. I don't like Nigel Farage. He did say there was an element of fascism in scottish nationalism after being barracaded in to a pub when he came to scotland. That I agree with.

Even arseholes can be right sometimes.

I don't like her article though. I think it is inflammatory

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 23/03/2017 15:34

As for the horror at the SNP being compared to BNP, seriously, do you honestly believe the SNP are pro-English? Pfff! Come on!

And, for equalities sake, it goes both ways. Have you never wondered about the anti-ginger hair sentiment? Where do you think that comes from? Who stereotypically has ginger hair? To think taking the piss out of red haired people is not at all rascist is very niave.

The answer in all things is balance. Treat all equally and there's no room for complaint from either side.

Applebite · 23/03/2017 15:38

Now this, this is fucking brilliant news:

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/london-terror-attack-victims-pc-keith-palmer-aysha-frade-uk-muslim-community-donations-a7645396.html%3Famp

Apparently it's now over £10,000. Promote this, sing it from the rooftops, and a few of the KH loving idiots might possibly see that MOST Muslims are just ordinary citizens!

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 15:39

I hate the ginger hair thing. My niece has ginger hair and is beautiful. Most cultures find it really atractive so I don't get the issue with ginger har tbh... I know it exists in the uk.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 15:41

See people are amazing. Most hate death and division whoever they are.

Very kind of all those donating Flowers

Lweji · 23/03/2017 15:42

Whatever thing there is for gingers, it's not racism because ginger is not considered a race.

At best (worst) it's gingerism. :)

ToastDemon · 23/03/2017 15:43

I've never said the SNP are pro-English. They are not anti-English individuals either. They are pro-Scottish, but that is a pretty inclusive version of nationalism, not some right-wing Scottish-by-blood nonsense.
I'm not even a massive SNP fangirl but there's some serious nonsense being spoken about them.
Farage was barricaded in a pub in Scotland because people don't like racist pricks.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 15:47

Whatever thing there is for gingers, it's not racism because ginger is not considered a race.

It is stigmatising someone in the same way as being unpleasant because they have black skin. Being "black" is not a race either lots of different origins of "black" people.

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 23/03/2017 15:49

Scotland and Ireland have the largest occurrence of the red hair MC1R gene. The dislike of red hair originates from the dislike of these races and therefore has its roots in rascism. FACT

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 15:49

I don't like him but...

Other than the infamouns (and awful) poster please tell me what he has done that is racist. I can match it with snp rhetoric believe me.
