AIBU to think Katie Hopkins is straying closer and closer to the line that separates legitimate "right wing" politics, and unacceptable "far right" extremism?

I find this article a) utterly incoherent in its argument and b) utterly abhorrent in its content....

Yesterday's attack is deeply deeply saddening- we live in London and we're heartbroken that this has happened again- but I actually find Katie's bile almost as saddening and troubling- as I fear these are views held by many many more people... sure these are just words, and yesterday saw vile, violent actions... but those actions would have begun with words of hate and anger too...

ego massively, yes. But there is at least the ability to interpret the words of the bible to a modern setting which is why we are seeing progress.

Such interpretation is not available here.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:34

Its only liberal left organisations that fire politically incorrect people.

You mean racist, sexist, etc people?

If they are writing supposed journalistic pieces, then, yes, why should they be paid for it?

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:35

Such interpretation is not available here.

How do you know?

ToastDemon · 23/03/2017 13:35

I cannot believe someone just called the SNP a hate group and compared them to the BNP.

1horatio · 23/03/2017 13:36

So, I did read the article... Yes, more clicks, I know.

I don't particularly like Katie Hopkins. But I didn't see any "far right extremism"... What exaclty is the issue with the article? I thought it was remarkably restrained and polite, I expected worse.

Good thing LGBT people don' suffer in mainly Christian countries in pars of Africa then, isn't it?

CoolCarrie · 23/03/2017 13:36

Fox News interview is worth watching, not for that silly mare & her views, just take a look at the news running below about a republican' Lookwood' s comments about women, bloody hell

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:36

lweji I'm not here to educate you.

But this stuff keeps my awake at night.

My friends left because they felt that anti-semitism is becoming institutionalised and largely unchecked here. They no longer felt safe or welcome.

You can say what you want but this was how they felt.

LouKout · 23/03/2017 13:37

Nikel well either youre deluded about the SNP or about the BNP.

BillSykesDog · 23/03/2017 13:38

Look at conservative Christian doctrine.

Lweji, I think you know full well that doesn't apply universally to Christianity in the way it does to Islam.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 13:38

I cannot believe someone just called the SNP a hate group and compared them to the BNP.

Why?

BillSykesDog · 23/03/2017 13:38

Attempted attack in Antwerp now

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:38

lweji how do I know? Because that is the rule! I didnt make the rule up.

We need to convince leaders that somehow that rule needs to be changed. That we don't need to take it literally.

Do you not know all this?

CoolCarrie · 23/03/2017 13:39

You are having a laugh if you compare SNP with BNP, what a ridiculous comment, in the MN vernacular, give your head a wobble!

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:40

lweji I'm not here to educate you.

I'm not here for an education, thank you.

I'm asking how you specifically know that "Such interpretation is not available here."
I'm asking what specific knowledge you have of what children are taught in different settings, and what families teach them.

For example, Jesus said nothing about gays. How does the New Testament supercede the Old, then? A letter says that women should obey their husbands, is that still valid?

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 13:40

I'm very serious actually

ToastDemon · 23/03/2017 13:40

nikelarsedstirgin seriously? Because they are a left-of-centre, inclusive political party with absolutely no racist agenda whatsoever.
Do you honestly believe Scotland is currently being run by a bunch of far-right extremists? I mean seriously?
Some of the most ardent pro-independence people I know in Scotland are English.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:41

Look at conservative Christian doctrine.
Lweji, I think you know full well that doesn't apply universally to Christianity in the way it does to Islam.

You should know full well that conservative Islam is not the same as what most Muslim families follow.

derxa · 23/03/2017 13:41

Yesterday a man in a large car ploughed through a pavement murdering innocent people and knifed a policeman to death, where is the thread berating this man Yes why not? Why focus on arseholes like Trump, Farage and Hopkins?
It must be hard for all ordinary Muslims who hate violence which is done in the name of Islam to speak out. As someone said upthread, look what happened to that poor shopkeeper in Glasgow. His killer is now a hero in Pakistan.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:42

You really missed the thread about the attack and the condemning posts?

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 13:43

Well done for establishing the target for their hate all by yourself.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 13:43

The reality is is that there are people in our country who are born here and want to attack people for no other reason other than to terrorise people.

I have seen no one come up with any solutions. Because that's the hard part.

I don't know how you defeat it. I can see that alienating people will make things worse and lead to more incidents like this.

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 23/03/2017 13:43

I'll have a look at the threads posted to see if there is indeed a condemnation of Muslim bigotry towards the West, if there is, then I'll hold my hands up.

LouKout, I did not say I wanted all Muslims to be held accountable for terrorist acts, I pointed out that the guilty by association mindset is the prevalent one, not just for Muslims, but for us all. There's no "want" about it, it is what it is. Saying "it's nothing to do with me" is as dismissive to the poor victims as me shrugging my shoulders and saying "don't care" when discussing the British people's role in slavery (for example).

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:44

Wahabbi Islam is imported from Saudi and the like. These countries fund most of the mosque building and support throughout the west. These mosques export the very strict Islam we now see. There can be no deviation from the written word. And the written word is not what you would call conducive to western standards.

It's a real shame that oil got in the way.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:44

Yes.

It's Love. Love will defeat hate. Love your enemy.
