AIBU to think Katie Hopkins is straying closer and closer to the line that separates legitimate "right wing" politics, and unacceptable "far right" extremism?

I find this article a) utterly incoherent in its argument and b) utterly abhorrent in its content....

Yesterday's attack is deeply deeply saddening- we live in London and we're heartbroken that this has happened again- but I actually find Katie's bile almost as saddening and troubling- as I fear these are views held by many many more people... sure these are just words, and yesterday saw vile, violent actions... but those actions would have begun with words of hate and anger too...

Yes, Farage is scum. BNP, BritainFirst. I agree. Hatred under a different banner.

SNP, SDL.... there are many speak using divisive and hateful ideology. Some will always be susceptible... mentally Ill or vulnerable groups too.

I am all for free speech, but the lid needs to be put on the spreading of divisive ideology completely.

It is not only Muslims who are guilty.

SleepOhHowIMissYou · 23/03/2017 13:24

Saying "it's nothing to do with me" is not the answer. As a white British woman living in the 21st Century my ancestors barbaric actions had nothing to do with me either. That doesn't stop me being a target for those who despise Western values, I am lumped in nevertheless. The difference is that radical Muslims are committing these acts right now, but the guilty by association mindset of those that are fuelled by hate remains the same for us all, whatever our background.

The biggest problem that I can see is represented by this very thread. This thread, titled Katie Hopkins, was started to berate a Daily Mail columnist for her bigoted views. Yesterday a man in a large car ploughed through a pavement murdering innocent people and knifed a policeman to death, where is the thread berating this man and those that support him for their bigoted views? Because that's what they are.

There isn't one is there? Why is that?

LouKout · 23/03/2017 13:25

I am no SNP voter but you cant compare them to the BNP

Is this the reality in London?

Zippydoodah · 23/03/2017 13:25

Oh, yes, the Christmas one and saying that muslims objected to the school play. So far, I haven't met a single one.

Megatherium · 23/03/2017 13:25

and of course your not allowed to criticise islam its the only ideology your not allowed to criticise because then your Islamophobic which is bad because your not allowed to criticise them becauseit hurts muslims feelings but of course they call you islamaphobic not mulsimaphobic wierd of it really was about muslims youd call it muslimaphobic surely but the left dont do logic

Oh, the irony of posting this in a thread where a number of people have criticised Islam with complete impunity. It's another example of that entirely false sense of victimhood that the right likes to foster.

LouKout · 23/03/2017 13:26

Sleep so..because you are lumped in..you want to lump all Muslims in?

Two wrongs dont make a right.

Also a thread condemning murder and terrorism is not exactly needed, its prerty clear people despise this.

Phnut · 23/03/2017 13:26

Isn't it odd how some people always say "you're not allowed to criticise political correctness" just before they go on to criticise political correctness with absolutely no impediment to their free speech whatsoever?

People disagreeing with you, and you not being allowed to say anything: There is a massive difference.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:27

Nor does Christianity have the culture that the entire bible is the infallible unquestionable word of God.

Doesn't it?
Where have you been?
Look at conservative Christian doctrine.

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:27

lweji my response is pretty much what Bill said.

This is a real issue. There is no modern interpretation to any of this stuff. It is what is preached in many mosques.

The anti-gay stuff troubles me just as much as the violence.

Our multicultural experiment will fail unless everyone is on the same page for basic human rights relating to gender, sexuality and religion. At present, this isn't happening in Islam and I highly suspect it's not happening in many of these mosques which teach these young men who then turn.

This is what led to the systemic abuse of young white girls in Rotherham and we need to talk about it.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 13:27

Loukout.

Yes I can

LouKout · 23/03/2017 13:28

Not referring to any poster in general but i do loathe the way the bigots crawl out of their holes on MN feeling all justified every time an act like this happens.

Megatherium · 23/03/2017 13:28

Sleep, if you think the perpetrator of the attack hasn't been criticised on MN, you really haven't been paying attention.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:29

Yesterday a man in a large car ploughed through a pavement murdering innocent people and knifed a policeman to death, where is the thread berating this man and those that support him for their bigoted views?

LouKout · 23/03/2017 13:29

Nikel you can what?

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:29

At present, this isn't happening in Islam

What is your basis for this?

Count2three · 23/03/2017 13:31

Lweji Christianity has had a reformation; Islam has not.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:31

This is what led to the systemic abuse of young white girls in Rotherham and we need to talk about it.

What led? Have you actually looked at the whole context of what happened in Rotherham?

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:31

lweji please have a read of the writings for yourself.

The anti-Jew rhetoric is horrific to be honest, but no one seems to talk about that.

I have Jewish friends who have left the UK as they no longer feel safe here.

nikelarsedstirgin · 23/03/2017 13:31

Compare them to the BNP

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:32

Lweji Christianity has had a reformation

OK, what do you mean by that?
What has this reformation brought?

southall · 23/03/2017 13:33

What nonsense. Do you seriously believe Hopkins is going to get fired for this?

I was not talking about Katie getting fire.

Its only liberal left organisations that fire politically incorrect people.

And also organisations that are afraid of losing business from liberal left wing customers.

The daily mail is neither.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 13:33

The anti-gay stuff troubles me just as much as the violence

There are other faiths where some adherants of that faith have an issue with LGBT people and women and use their faith and religious texts to justify it.

I presume that troubles you as well?

Charlieismydarlin · 23/03/2017 13:33

White, young girls were considered as trash by the local community. Not even worth investigating. This abuse was condoned to the highest levels. Some very brave women did not give up.

Lweji · 23/03/2017 13:33

lweji please have a read of the writings for yourself.

You mean in the Koran?

The anti-Jew rhetoric is horrific to be honest, but no one seems to talk about that.
I have Jewish friends who have left the UK as they no longer feel safe here.

Is that because of Islam specifically? Of every Muslim? Can you elaborate?
