Breaking on the Huff and Beeb

OP posts:

I though they all wore stab vests now.

But anyway, St James is our nearest Tube but I get on at Victoria anyway as I go to Kings X.

OutToGetYou · 22/03/2017 22:55

I don't think the guy who died was armed, no.

GirlOverboard · 22/03/2017 22:56

He was stabbed in the head and the neck, witness reports say Sad

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:56

He was a member of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Proetection Service - surely they are armed?

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 23:01

I'm absolutely sure the new Scotland Yard statement said he was unarmed. I'll go check. Stab vests only protect some bits anyway - they lessen risk but don't remove it.

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 23:03

Manchester evening news says unarmed

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 23:05

RJ I agree with the stab vest only protecting certain areas - they should have collars on them.

I am slightly more concerned that we have unarmed officers protecting known / high risk terrorist targets...

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 23:06

Lots of news outlets saying unarmed...

PortiaCastis · 22/03/2017 23:08

Well if he was armed I suppose he would of shot his attacker so don't think he was

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 23:15

Portia That's what I originally thought, but then they said he was the protective officer and now it doesn't make sense to me. Why would we allow unarmed officers to protect terrorist targets?

RJ thanks!

chocolatespiders · 22/03/2017 23:18

Reports he was stabbed in neck and head so stab vest would not have helped.

Surprise so close to Westminster not being armed.

Awful just awful

SuperSheepdog · 22/03/2017 23:32

This type of attack is very hard to prevent as no bombs etc just a car driven into the crowd and knives. Any member of the public could choose to commit this terror, sadly.

I am interested to know who the terrorist was, no doubt there'll be lots of apologists for him though, for me he's just vile scum.

I'm saddest for the two children of the murdered police officer, I can't imagine how heartbroken they are to have lost their dad.

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 23:56

Quentin letts has written a piece for the daily mail saying the policemens usual job was to keep pedestrians safe from the cars coming and going.

TastyTub · 22/03/2017 23:59

I watched one of the junior doctor probably the first one and she looked upset was flustered and confused. Towards the end they start barraging her with questions she doesn't really want to answer and she's trying to leave the conversation. I honestly wouldn't have wanted to be in her shoes or anyone else's today

So sad

Emerald seriously?? I cannot even begin to articulate how upsetting and disgusting your comment is.

tiddlyipom · 23/03/2017 00:39

Emeraldscorn
What a revolting comment.
PC Keith Palmer was not on the bridge when he was murdered, he was inside the grounds of the Palace Of Westminster.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/03/2017 00:41

EmeraldScorn A serving policeman and ex army man. A father, husband and son has died and that is the comment you make.

Grow up.

tiddlyipom · 23/03/2017 00:45

YY Piglet.

The Scotland Yard statement said that the diplomatic protection officers on duty were a mix of armed and unarmed officers. He definitely said PC Palmer was unarmed.

I'm surprised that not all of the officers at the gate of such a high profile place were armed.

incogKNEEto · 23/03/2017 01:31

Emeraldscorn shame on you. Keith Palmer was someone's son, husband and father to two children who will never see him again. You disgust me.

BastardGoDarkly · 23/03/2017 01:33

He didn't even have a tazer? That's just madness in that location.

Emmerald you're a dick aren't you?

Dh said he's seen footage of an MP desperately trying to save the policemans life, I hope his family never come across those images, just heart breaking.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 23/03/2017 01:50

Bastard that was Tobias Ellwood. He's ex-Army so presumably his former training kicked in. Heartening to see the better side of human nature even if his efforts were tragically unsuccessful.

shadowfax07 · 23/03/2017 02:12

@Penfold007, please thank your relatives from me. I can't imagine how they coped.
