Officer killed was PC Keith Palmer. He was married with children.

HateSummer · 22/03/2017 22:27

And flappy

clairethewitch70 · 22/03/2017 22:28

PC Keith Palmer RIP

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:29

Ineed Possibly, but then announcing the fatality earlier on before the official announcement whilst there were photographs with unblurred faces going around social media, that's what I was most uncomfortable with.

It's been a shocking day - those doctors did an amazing job (as did the nurses and physios - I've just realised someone i know was a nurse that ran onto that bridge).

Just feel for the all the families who had relatives in the area with all the footage, interviews, fatalities being said without official confirmation etc. Maybe communication needs to be worked on in the wider sense, rather than just between parliament as Caroline Lucas (?) was suggesting earlier.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:31

Guardian is now saying five dead??

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:32

Scotland Yard's top anti-terror officer Mark Rowley confirms that five people have died and about 40 people were injured in the attack, including three police officers.

Met Police.

Holy shitbags.

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:33

Officer killed was PC Keith Palmer. He was married with children.
Oh bless him. SadFlowers

lalalalyra · 22/03/2017 22:34

I hope the media listen to the request from the Asst Com not to speculate on the identity of the assailant. I doubt it though.

PC Palmer was unarmed. RIP.

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 22:34

Death toll now at 5

lalalalyra · 22/03/2017 22:35

@flappin - there is 5 dead. 3 members of public, PC Palmer and the attacker.

MycatsaPirate · 22/03/2017 22:36

My thoughts go out to PC Keith Palmer's family tonight. A man went out to work this morning, kissed his wife and children goodbye and never got to go home.

Thank you for your service. Thank you for your heroic bravery today.

God bless

PortiaCastis · 22/03/2017 22:37

Poor policeman my thoughts are with his wife and children

PollytheDolly · 22/03/2017 22:37

These updates are soul destroying Sad

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 22:37

Keith palmer.

Husband, father, police officer, hero.

A name makes it real. I hope his family are well supported tonight.

Rhayader
"I work in Westminster, scary times. Everything was locked down really quickly though and the police were amazing as always. Leaving the office (when we were allowed after a few hours) was so eerie, helicopters, unmarked police cars with sirens whizzing around, no other cars on the roads, police lines and complete silence on the tube."

I work just up the road, just outside the exclusion zone, though we told our staff to stay in until we knew more. I saw the investigation units from MI5 heading to the scene about 5.35pm.

I have to say though, it;s alkways silent on the Tube!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2017 22:38

Mark Rowley the MET assistant commissioner has asked the press to refrain from mentioning names and speculating and asking to be allowed to just get on with the investigation

There are reasons why the attacker isn't being named and we have to trust the police and security services they do a fantastic job (along with all other emergency service workers involved)

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 22:41

Am I the only one who doesn't really give a shit about the attacker, who he is, what he wanted?

I know it's important for the security services to know but I wouldn't give his name the airing...

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:41

^THIS.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:43

RJ Nope, I don't care either. I would prefer to know nothing about him, and actually think that by not announcing anything about him it may stop further violence / hatred.

I would like to know how this was not a foiled attempt though, is that wrong to want to know that? Not just from the intelligence side of things, but what if society, or those closest or known to the attacker had no idea either?

OutToGetYou · 22/03/2017 22:46

I am stunned that a police officer died from stabbing, I thought they wore stab vests (suppose could have been stabbed in neck). It's just so horrific.

Rhayader · 22/03/2017 22:47

OutToGetYou

Yes the tube is generally quiet but this was very very quiet! Getting on at St James because Westminster was closed. I actually work for government and my office is inside the exclusion zone so our offices were physically locked down and sweeped.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:48

outtoget I'm sure if he was an armed officer, he would have had a vest on.

RJnomore1 · 22/03/2017 22:50

He wasn't an armed officer.

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:53

He wasn't armed apparently. I wonder what's the reason of that to be fair. Parliament has been under threat previously and is a high risk placement.
Hope you rest in peace dear Keith. What a brave way to go.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:53

Wasn't he? It said earlier he was an armed officer?
