Breaking on the Huff and Beeb

OP posts:
Believeitornot · 22/03/2017 21:12

I just think it's not very nice to start some sort of witch hunt agains the junior doctor. I haven't watched any of the interviews because it seems a bit macabre to be honest. But I don't believe she did it deliberately and has made a mistake.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 21:16

I don't think we should play down the religious elements in these situations either. The Islamic Society of Britain have already publicly stated they do not condone this attack. All of the Muslim's I know are loving, peaceful, grateful members of society who are finding this as abhorrent as I am.

That's the religious elements of Islam I won't be playing down.

WorriedLAC · 22/03/2017 21:16

She may have spoken out of turn, however she looked to me like she was totally in disbelief and shock !

It is awful hearing the eyewitness accounts, praying for all the injured and families of those who were killed.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 21:19

Believe No one is starting a witch hunt on junior doctors. I asked about ONE doctor who gave three separate comments / interviews to the press, asking whether the details released had felt a bit too much to other people. Hardly starting a witch hunt. I also mentioned that it was junior doctor who provided the first medical assistance (from a medic) to the policeman who had been stabbed.

HelenaDove · 22/03/2017 21:23

Stunned and shocked by what has happened today.

People killed and some left with catastrophic injuries. The people who have been attacked today are going to need much more support than words.

Doyouwantabrew · 22/03/2017 21:30

willy I disagree.

Calling terrorist Islamic or Irish catholic or fundamentalist Christian affords them some degree of dignity and affiliation.

Strip it of that dignity and consequence and lay it bare for what it is. A osychopathic terrorist act.

I think less youngsters would be attracted to the path if it's universally acknowledged that violent acts have no place in any religion.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2017 21:41

I really don't think terrorists care how we refer to them their aim is to cause destruction, fear and hurt

They themselves believe that are acting in accordance with how they have interpreted their religion/belief

To strip them of their religion implies that a religious person can't possibly cause harm to others but no religion is more powerful than the desire for power than humans have that at times leads to such atrocities

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 22/03/2017 21:50

From the muslim council of Britian website...

We are shocked and saddened by the incident at Westminster. We condemn this attack and while it is still too early to speculate on the motives, our thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those affected. ...

I feel beyond angry on this. A hard working, brace officer died trying to save his city and parliament, the very parliament that had been cutting funding to the Met police and has made them so exposed despite being given numerous warnings this could happen.
It's so fucked up. No justice in this world. Sad

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:01

Valentine This is no one's fault but the terrorists.

HelenaDove · 22/03/2017 22:03

YY Valentine. And if he has left a wife and children they will now only be entitled to widowed parents allowance for 18 months.

As for the people left with catastrophic injuries.............they will now be put through the wringer of the stress of a PIP claim.

Saw IDS on the news earlier giving his opinion All i could think was .......i wonder how many of the 7/7 survivors have had their disability benefits fucked about with.

Like i said they need more support than just words!

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:10

I really don't think terrorists care how we refer to them their aim is to cause destruction, fear and hurt

I am not feeling any of that. I am angry.

PennyPickle · 22/03/2017 22:12

News report earlier said 4 of the injured had been transferred to Kings hospital, as St Thomas' is not a specialist trauma hospital

PennyPickle · 22/03/2017 22:13

Wando One is being treated in a major trauma centre with serious head injury (will not name hospital) as per protocol in London.

Sorry that was in response to ^

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:14

I just read that Kings have said two of the injured are critical. Sad

lalalalyra · 22/03/2017 22:17

Sounds like C4 totally jumped the gun. ITV news saying it's been confirmed that the man being named everywhere is still in prison.

HateSummer · 22/03/2017 22:19

Why is it taking so long to name the attacker? Normally they release a name within bourse Could he be a lone wolf? A mad man unknown to anyone?

Rhayader · 22/03/2017 22:23

I work in Westminster, scary times. Everything was locked down really quickly though and the police were amazing as always. Leaving the office (when we were allowed after a few hours) was so eerie, helicopters, unmarked police cars with sirens whizzing around, no other cars on the roads, police lines and complete silence on the tube.

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:23

hatesummer
I think one reason could be they are trying to find his connections, potential helpers etc. That explains it a bit. those leads could genuinely help more potential attackers.

Valentine2 · 22/03/2017 22:24

Meant to write "Help catch more potential attackers".

ineedamoreadultieradult · 22/03/2017 22:25

Ive just watched the interview with the junior Dr and to be honest I felt she was trying her best not to say anything but was getting words put in her mouth and the shock, adrenaline, her inexperience all led to her saying more than she wanted to I felt a bit sorry for her really.

EachandEveryone · 22/03/2017 22:25

I've just watched it with my doctor friends and none of them thought she broke any breach of confidentiality and she is is a registrar so not a junior

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:25

HateSummer The deputy chief policeman said earlier that they would not name the attacker until they were certain that all avenues had been followed or something in one of the questions (I understood it as they did not want to give people connected to the attacker time to move or destroy evidence).

HateSummer · 22/03/2017 22:26

Thanks valentine that makes sense.

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 22:26

Registrars are junior doctors. Surely your doctor friends know this?
