Knicker bows

Not exactly a pressing question, but why must all grown women's basic underwear be covered in these childish little bows?

I've got no issues with a nice set of lacies, but WTF are these doing on my sensible Bridget's? AIBU? They infuriate me, and they're on bras too! Why on earth is the purpose of a bow between my boobs... on a t-shirt bra?

They are very useful if you are blind.

To the poster with her knicker labels in the side seam - you can just as easily use that to find the front of your knicks because labels are always on the left hand side of the garment.

I've solved the problem by never wearing any.

I've just checked my drawer (oh the joy of being up at 5.30am with a baby) and I have 2 pairs with a bow and at least 14 without. I never consciously look for bow less knickers so they must be pretty easy to find.

None of mine have bows. I can tell which way around they go. So I'm guessing bows are a choice you didn't realise you're making.

Have now checked 3 year old's drawer and it's about a 50:50 split between bows and non bows

I'm so happy to read this thread, I hate them but when I say this IRL people are like-what's your problem.

I'm nearly 50 ffs, I don't want cutsie little bows on my pants.

Primark knickers have a little bow on the front AND the back. It drives me mad

Someone started a thread about this a while back. I'd never noticed them before then. I know some women find them offensive thinking it's a mans idea. But I bet your bottom dollar it was a woman's idea. I don't think most men would even think of such a trifle. (I'll probably get in trouble for say that). Stands to reason though, if lots of women haven't even noticed them to start with. Interesting as a PP mentioned, maybe it was something to do with Queen Victoria. Oww, wonder if that's why they called the lingerie shop Victoria's Secrets.

I googled Queen Victoria's knickers just now.

Apparently a pair sold for over £16,000 at auction and there's a Tory peer who collects and frames them, but no mention of bows.

Yes it is a bit strange to have them on Women's Knickers but perfect for my 2 year old " Mummy, I'm dressed, look at my Knick Knocks - bows at the front! Yes a very independent 2 year old who chooses her own clothes and gets herself dress admittedly if we are going out sometimes I have to talk her into wearing something else!

Searabbit am currently wearing a Nice stripy nighty from M&S. No frills though I'm afraid it has a knicker bow.

Everyone: my knickers are Brazilians and you can't tell front from back easily.

I have knickers with a bow on both the front and the back. It doesn't help at all

I don't think there's anything wrong with being pretty and feminine sometimes. We can allow ourselves this you know.
