Noel Fielding hosting Bake Off on Channel 4

Sorry if this already has been written about in a thread elsewhere.

I've just seen that Noel Fielding (the comedian from The Mighty Boosh) is confirmed as the new host of the Bake Off alongside Sandi Toksvig.

I'm quite surprised, to be honest. What does everyone else think?

I don't like Noel Fielding at all and am baffled by the hatred so many posters have for Sandi Toksvig. I've always found her extremely likeable. . I suppose I'll watch the first episode and see what it's like.

Toksvig has really revitalised QI - even Alan Davies looks like he's enjoying himself now.
I think she and Fielding could bounce off each other pretty well for the surreal background comedy.

No idea about Prue Leith as a presenter but she's certainly got the expertise.

Had forgotten about Jonny Vegas' ceramics degree. Expecting him to be announced as new host of Pottery throwdown any minute then!

I picked this up from another forum: Apparently Toksvig is on a no cake/bread diet and Fielding has said he prefers to eat his food through a tube. For this, Toksvig will be paid 750k and Fielding 250k. You couldn't make it up.

I think that NF and ST have done QI together before and he was less annoying than I thought he'd be. Am open minded.

Sewing Bee has not been recommissioned, sadly.

If he host in-character as Richmond from the IT Crowd it will be brilliant...
