To think this is my job, not dh's mates.

Dh has been faffing about what he wants to do for his birthday on Saturday for weeks. Yesterday he finally decided he just wanted to go down the local.

He's a bit disappointed because half the pub had already made plans to go to a boxing match, so once he was asleep I sent out a fb invite to loads of our friends saying I knew it was short notice but if they could make it that's where we'd be.

Then I got the following messages from dh's best mate. Who is a twat

Hi ya
As far as Saturday goes we're on the same page
I thought also that xxx would want people to pop in n see him for his birthday so I did the same
Assuming you would be by his side and so he didn't find out I didn't tell you
Hope that's not too imposing ? But just wanted you guys to turn up and people be out for him
Iv sorted a little cake balloons banners but also put a little gentle twist on his decor too
Really hope you don't mind and glad we're both on the same page or wave length x

Is it me or is that overstepping the boundaries a bit?

I think his heart is in the right place. I don't think he is over stepping the mark if your Dh was disappointed about his birthday clashing with the boxing. He wants your dh to enjoy his night out.

CatThiefKeith · 18/03/2017 12:22

If that's true LadfromTheBar why has he invited all his friends and hardly any of dh's?

What a weirdo. He sounds like he wants to be your DH and be star of the show tonight at his your DH's 40th birthday.

It would have been very nice and thoughtful had he messaged you asking if you had organised something as he was thinking about xyz.

That's my place marked anyway Wink

IhatchedaSnorlax · 18/03/2017 12:54

Sounds very bizarre Op & I wouldn't like it at all but I think your approach is the best way to handle it. Hope your DH has fun.

ohfourfoxache · 18/03/2017 13:06

Hopefully tonight will show dh what an idiot he actually is. Especially when he finds out who prick has invited vs who he hasn't.

MrsKoala · 18/03/2017 13:06

Please tell me you and dh are just going to look blankly and ask why he keeps saying it's his 40th? I find that type of joke so tiresome.

I am going to be following tonight as we are all fucking ill again so will be up with sick kids half the night.

CatThiefKeith · 18/03/2017 13:10

Mrs K I am sending you a fb message with a link to the post he put on dh's wall.

It has naked men in it so don't watch it in front of the children!

OP posts:
CatThiefKeith · 18/03/2017 13:14

The rest of you will have to make do with a screenshot I'm afraid.

Shock

What's wrong with him! Is he doing a gay 'joke'?

picklemepopcorn · 18/03/2017 13:19

Thank you kindly!

ScarletForYa · 18/03/2017 13:20

'Iv sorted a little cake balloons banners but also put a little gentle twist on his decor too'

That's a strange way to talk? Is the friend gay with a crush on your fella?

Also, what's the story with all this fuss about someone's 32nd Birthday. It's very strange.

CatThiefKeith · 18/03/2017 13:20

If he hadn't got a partner and two children I'd swear he wanted more than dh's friendship....

OP posts:
SparklyMagpie · 18/03/2017 13:23

If I was your DH when I got there I'd have to make a confession that I am actually 40. Just to see prick's face.

Either way I hope you and DH have a great evening an I shall be waiting for updates Grin

ScarletForYa · 18/03/2017 13:23

Ha, cross post, I thought he was gay even before the naked men!

MrsKoala · 18/03/2017 13:25

When you see him and his family say 'That's quite a beard you've got there prick' and smile serenely. Much better if he hasn't got an actual beard of course.

SparklyMagpie · 18/03/2017 13:26

MrsKoala GrinGrin

justpeachy74 · 18/03/2017 13:27

It sounds lovely. Really thoughtful.

I can sort of see how you might feel put out too though.

CatThiefKeith · 18/03/2017 13:34

Be even more hilarious as he's unable to grow one! Grin

ohfourfoxache · 18/03/2017 13:58

Holy fuck on a fiddlestick Shock

WHY would he send that? Why? Oh why? He claims to be straight?

It would be like one of us sending a picture of a girl with her boobs out with HB scrawled across them to a straight female friend.

This chap absolutely does not have a clue Confused

IhatchedaSnorlax · 18/03/2017 14:27

Does he think your DH is gay & is trying to force him to admit it?

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 18/03/2017 14:52

This is so weird 😂 placemarking

APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/03/2017 15:02

Did your DH find the fb post odd or is he just attuned to his friend's sense of humour?

Sparkletastic · 18/03/2017 15:08

Prick sounds totally overbearing and his 'apology' message is fake and gushing. Please fake laugh at any hilarious 40 jokes being sure to loudly announce that although DH has several years to go until that milestone dear Prick doesn't.

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/03/2017 15:16

Well he wouldnt be the first married man with kids who came out, I know a man who was married for almost 30 years to his wife and has been with his male partner for 20....

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/03/2017 15:16

Obviously, thats prick I a referring to not DH!
