Dh has been faffing about what he wants to do for his birthday on Saturday for weeks. Yesterday he finally decided he just wanted to go down the local.

He's a bit disappointed because half the pub had already made plans to go to a boxing match, so once he was asleep I sent out a fb invite to loads of our friends saying I knew it was short notice but if they could make it that's where we'd be.

Then I got the following messages from dh's best mate. Who is a twat

Perhaps for this guy's birthday you could get him a mug with a pic of your DH on it? Or a tshirt or something ? Or if you wanted to go the whole hog you could get a matching set - personalised mug, tshirt, pillow case, etc.

I would think 'oh that's nice, but bit of a dickhead to not check with me that we're not doing X'. Then as the friend is clearly a bit of a numpty about comms I would just start opening a comms channel with him, like send the occasional friendly message. Sounds like he is a good friend to your DH and you should enable that friendship.
