Steak and BJ day

So, was watching a cooking show last night that really put me in the mood for a nice rare steak. Told DH I wanted to pick up some big rib-eyes at the supermarket with him.

He told me he would be embarrassed as it is apparently steak and BJ day today (valentines for men) and we will look like twats if we go into Tesco to buy steak today.

We have compromised by agreeing to use the self service till.

Is he BU? I am going to serve with crab with home made mayo and crusty bread as a starter, and baked potatoes with Philly and crispy bacon, and a green salad as a side.

I don't know if it's just where I live and my age (mid 20's) but I feel the main view is that Valentine's Day is for women I don't see/ hear anything about women getting their boyfriends anything where as I'm always greeted with a bombardment of photos of flowers and gifts or comments by women that their DP Got them X they're so lucky etc or complaining about it. And I've never heard a friend panic that she hasn't got anything or good/big enough.

I'm not saying this is the answer it's absolute shit for a comparison (although some love to go along with it for a joke) but in my experience valentines is for women and more of a stress for men as I hear them panicking about it. But everyone's experiences are different

I've heard of steak & bj day, but I've never celebrated it in any context. I don't know when it falls, I don't think many people would, so in all seriousness he's being a bit OTT. Even if the cashier joked, oh it's your lucky night then, he could laugh it off.

In a way it's good he's not expecting the latter part from you.

Or maybe you could try being on top? Especially if you're a bit smaller than your partner (if you're a bit shorter, if your legs are, then being on top is probably better)

My DH reminded me today that we missed steak and bj....I went to bed at 7.30 as had been up with DD the previous night and only had 2 hrs sleep!
He had left over Chinese instead....
It's now been renamed 'Chinese and wank day!' Grinhaha!

It's sad, that people need a designated day to do this. It was clearly a man who thought this up, using the stomach full, balks empty mantra, which is what is portrayed as all a man needs to be happy in a relationship. People getting excited & actually taking the day seriously have a kangaroo loose in the top paddock.
