Steak and BJ day

Bitchycocktailwaitress · 14/03/2017 14:12

So, was watching a cooking show last night that really put me in the mood for a nice rare steak. Told DH I wanted to pick up some big rib-eyes at the supermarket with him.

He told me he would be embarrassed as it is apparently steak and BJ day today (valentines for men) and we will look like twats if we go into Tesco to buy steak today.

We have compromised by agreeing to use the self service till.

Is he BU? I am going to serve with crab with home made mayo and crusty bread as a starter, and baked potatoes with Philly and crispy bacon, and a green salad as a side.

Didn't know this exists.

But I know from some Asian friends from highschool that there's this thing called white day, right? I think that may be today as well... Idk, tbh.

Justreadingtheforum · 14/03/2017 14:35

It's White Day :) my husband got chocolates as he does every year. Tbf he could have a BJ if he wanted one he would only have to ask and doesn't need a day for it. We are both veggies so no steak.

VestalVirgin · 14/03/2017 14:35

He's U for even knowing about steak and BJ day. Misogynistic bollocks that it is.

But on the other hand, he is embarrassed about people possibly thinking he is that kind of man. I'd say that's a good sign.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 14/03/2017 14:35

It's a day where boyfriends/husbands etc say thankyou for their Valentine's day presents, I think... (?)

Onthecouchagain · 14/03/2017 14:35

Sounds like a bit of fun. Also a lot cheaper than valentines....

diddl · 14/03/2017 14:35

Oh my good grief!

It's not so much that people come up with this crap, but that twats go along with it.

Daren't buy steak in case the cashier might think he's getting a bj tonight?

Even if they "know" what today is, wtf would they care?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/03/2017 14:36

I'm having a prawn & egg salad for tea.

I have heard of steak & BJ day in the past (thank you FB), but can't say I've ever observed it!

SoupDragon · 14/03/2017 14:36

Some people clearly couldn't be arsed to read as far as the "Light hearted" at the end of the OP's post.

HerOtherHalf · 14/03/2017 14:37

I'd heard about it before but no idea when it is meant to be and didn't think anyone was dim enough to take it seriously. It did come up in conversation once (not as a suggestion from me, it was a topic on TV IIRC) and my wife quipped "steak and a BJ? You'll be bloody lucky if you get a hamburger and handjob". She's nobody's fool :)

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 14/03/2017 14:37

There's nothing inherently bad about it, I supposed?

BarbarianMum · 14/03/2017 14:38

Who gets the bj?

BoobleMcB · 14/03/2017 14:39

Though more like "Steak Rare and Blowjobs Rarer" in this house 😂

Chicken Kiev day here, today. MIL will be here for dinner.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 14/03/2017 14:40

Barbarian I do. All the BJs Grin

And yes, I'm kidding. (Kind of.)

youngestisapsycho · 14/03/2017 14:40

It's been around a few years now... DH is having casserole for dinner, and the only part of him I'll be touching is his shoulder that I whack when he is snoring!

CaoNiMartacus · 14/03/2017 14:41

"Lady's"

TisMeTheLadFromTheBar · 14/03/2017 14:45

Never heard of it. Does this mean your DH only wants a BJ once a year? Grin

badtime · 14/03/2017 14:46

But surely until some prick came up with this, Valentine's Day was unisex (like, both partners were supposed to be all romantic and give presents)?

That is actually my main issue with this 'steak & blow job' nonsense - it basically suggests that men don't like romance and nice gifts and women don't like sex or meat.

Seren85 · 14/03/2017 14:46

Its bolognase and a cuddle before sleep day in this house!

Crinkle77 · 14/03/2017 14:47

Jeez why are some people on here giving the OP's husband grief on here. The OP and her husband are obviously having a bit of a joke. It might not be to everyone's taste but it is supposed to be lighthearted.

minisoksmakehardwork · 14/03/2017 14:48

I thought it was pie (pi) day. Actually, it's my birthday so if anyone in our house gets treats it's me Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 14/03/2017 14:49

Why would men have their own Valentines Day? Feb 14th is for us all! Anyway, did he get lucky????

morningconstitutional2017 · 14/03/2017 14:52

I've heard some bollocks in my time but this beats all. Isn't Valentine's Day supposed to be when a couple exchange gifts, etc? So there is no need for this crap to exist, is there?
Light-hearted or not, it's still nonsense.

Seriously!

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 14/03/2017 14:55

morningconstitutional2017

I think it depends.

In some cultures only one person in a relationship receives a gift/anything. So the other person gives them a thank you gift the next month...

But yes, it may be meant to imply that "all that romantic crap" is something the boyfriend/husband has no interest in and that he therefore deserves a reward... Which is a "bit" eh...
