or at some point this month?

And I know there is a EU board tucked away somewhere but I'm interested in everyone's views.

If the kicking of EU citizens (just comparing here) happened in any other civilised country they would be called out as racist, xenophobic monsters.

But here? No problem, do what you like.

Why are British people putting up with this? It is disgraceful in the extreme.

HelenaDove · 13/03/2017 20:51

" A poorly educated population raised on ready meals and tabloid newspapers"................................who are more likely to vote on X Factor/The Voice/BGT than an election or referendum.

Lalelou · 13/03/2017 20:53

"I wish every EU citizen living in the constituency of every MP who voted to treat them like bargaining chips would go to their next surgery, force him or her to look them in the eye and explain why they voted the way they did."

^^ Excellent idea. They should bring their dc along too.

Cartright · 13/03/2017 20:53

Well I think it's going to be a disaster. but I'm glad I no longer work in a policy role so will not be responsible for delivering a programme of work which I am fundamentally opposed to. I feel sorry for my former colleagues, many of who will be overseeing the dismantling of a lifetime's work. I think that many of those who voted to Leave have yet to realise that fundamentally they are responsible for making it a success - no one else will do it for them.

And selfishly, I'm glad I'm financially secure, have savings and have paid off the mortgage, so more able than most to weather the storm.

Frankel1 · 13/03/2017 20:56

Sukey envy of what?

WrongTrouser · 13/03/2017 21:03

I'm not quite understanding the relevance of the Asda news. I thought one of the arguments for remain was that being in the EU protects workers' rights. Well, we are still in, still under EU legislation and Asda is reducing its workers' conditions. How's that then?

Neolara · 13/03/2017 21:03

I feel absolutely gutted that we are willfully doing something so stupid. And I'm absolutely furious at Jeremy Corbyn for his pathetic opposition to the government.

WrongTrouser · 13/03/2017 21:06

Aren't Irish citizens covered by the Common Travel Area which gives greater rights than those currently enjoyed by EU citizens in the UK?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Travel_Area

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 21:10

I don't know wrong

I need to do some research

I think the Asda news is the tip of the iceberg tbh - not sure they would have tried this prior to June 24th

shrug

user1471545174 · 13/03/2017 21:11

Sad and a bit worried. I don't think it should ever have taken the direction it did, though. It was better as a trading bloc.

user1471545174 · 13/03/2017 21:12

Wrong - you are right.

KillDora · 13/03/2017 21:15

A poorly educated population raised on ready meals and tabloid newspapers.

Attitudes like this really fuck me off.

Who's fault is it that a large deprived segment of the population is not educated to a satisfactory level? The poor peoples?

We've known in this country for a long time that the more deprived areas have received a second class and substandard education in certain areas. As well as substandard everything else.

And then the slightly better off get confused as to how these plebs could have gotten so angry.

Or why their critical thinking skills aren't honed or why they can be swayed/trust the media.

And use it as some sort of insult against them! The ones with the least power, the ones who can't afford to send little Timmy to the 'good' school.

The ruling class wanted a large segment of the population to be distracted and uneducated.

You reap what you sow.

Devilishpyjamas · 13/03/2017 21:16

The UK cannot be any worse off than we were under the EU regime

Of course it bloody can.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 13/03/2017 21:18

I expect that the rights of EU citizens to remain here WILL be protected, but are seen as a necessary part of the govt's negotiating strategy.

HeeHighls · 13/03/2017 21:19

If I never heard the word "Brexit" again I'd be happy.

Devilishpyjamas · 13/03/2017 21:21

I agree by the way killdora but am horrified that many of the people who will be most severely affected by the car crash that is Brexit are the ones that voted for it.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 21:22

Yes, because that's the fair, just and moral way to treat individuals who have contributed so much to this country.

I wish I could share your faith in the protection of EU citizens' rights, but I've stopped expecting sense, logic, decency or common sense to emerge from this shitstorm.

Bananagio · 13/03/2017 21:24

Glad I am out of it. Am a Brit who lives in Italy and don't recognise my country. Married to an Italian and applying for dual citizenship, something I would never have contemplated before the referendum. The opinions from certain Leave voters here make me feel claustrophobic! Am however OK re A 50 being triggered as I want the incompetent bunch in charge to start being challenged on the lack of unicorns and everlasting cake being thrown our way by Brussels. And good luck to Scotland. Have Scottish family and didn't want the Union to break up last time but think they should go for it now.

Oh and Hmm to whoever talked about WW3 with Germany on the horizon. Clueless beyond all belief.

Flumpernickel · 13/03/2017 21:27

"Who do the best and brightest think will wipe the arse of their dear old relative in the care home?

Or serve them their double macchiato?

Or clean their house?

Or pick their fruit and veg?

Can't see the delighted leavers queuing up for those jobs........"

badders what an absolute crock of shit. Everyone I know doing these jobs (many people ) are not EU nationals. 20 years ago, who was doing these jobs then? You know, before EU FOM?

Christ, I have done these jobs before now... and I am a uk national.

Can't wait, going to have a party, Brexit all the way!😎🇬🇧

Flumpernickel · 13/03/2017 21:28

Apologies for double post...

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 21:29

Flump...

Me too.

I wonder if those who voted brexit knew that's what their children would be doing though?

Hmmmm

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 13/03/2017 21:30

Sukey envy of what?

People whose lives they think are better than theirs, when they deserve it more on account of being British. Or people who have taken advantage of opportunities such as going to work/study abroad.

Flumpernickel · 13/03/2017 21:31

My child does do one of the above jobs.
