Thankyou fulloffun. Wine Its horrifying.

frumpet · 13/03/2017 20:31

.

fulloffunreally · 13/03/2017 20:31

MrsExpo

Theresa May has postponed invocation of A50 until end March.

Apparently Sturgeon stole her thunder and then the EU gave notice that she should not mess with their celebrations re Treaty of Rome or something and Gert Wilders and elections and on and on.

So our PM is wanting Brexit, but is in thrall to the Scots and the EU. Yeah right.

When will the next postponement be?

HardcoreLadyType · 13/03/2017 20:31

The UK cannot be any worse off than we were under the EU regime

Actually, we are likely to be a lot worse off.

viktoria · 13/03/2017 20:32

As a non British European who has lived in the UK for nearly 30 years, I feel scared, upset, sad.
I have no doubt that Brexit is going to be terrible for the UK.
My 16 year old told me he had a nightmare and couldn't go back to sleep last night: he had dreamt that our family would be split up and I would have to leave the UK.

HelenaDove · 13/03/2017 20:34

YY Hardcore. After what ive seen today i really dont think that retail workers having to work on Christmas Day is that far away.

This is only one example but its possible because workers rights will be eroded even more.

Anon1234567890 · 13/03/2017 20:34

I am glad its finally happening. For a while there it seemed like the people were to stupid to know what they wanted. But sanity has prevailed and we are getting what we voted for. Feels like we are escaping a pool of quick sand.

PennyPickle · 13/03/2017 20:34

Actually, we are likely to be a lot worse off

Are you privy to info that nobody else is? Because nobody else knows what will happen. Please do spill what you know to be true

Caprianna · 13/03/2017 20:35

We are leaving in June as our jobs are moving to an EU country. I am so happy to leave and to be able to offer my children and different future than those stuck in the UK. I really feel sad for the remainers and especially the young. I think the UK is becoming the laughing stock of Europe. A poorly educated population raised on ready meals and tabloid newspapers.

full the fact that art 50 would not be triggered in the middle of the celebrations of the 60 years of the EU has been known for a very long time.
Doing so wouldn't be in favour of the UK anyway. It's nothing to do with being in thrall with the EU.

fulloffunreally · 13/03/2017 20:39

Seems to me that the only people that can stay are UK citizens. No one else anymore.

Bet the Home Office will be beefed up with inspectors coming to a home near you soon to turf you out because you are an EU citizen.

It is bizarre in the extreme and so divisive.

The illegals will probably be fine though.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 20:39

Its odd!

It could just be where I live obv...

But the very few immigrants here all work, pay taxes, most have bought properties, have children at the local Schools and have made a life here. They are very involved in the local churches too.

The leave voters I know are either unemployed or unskilled workers and reliant on benefits.

Anecdotes don't = data obv but I think it's a pattern that may be quite common in leave areas?.....

This with bells on. You only have to look at the areas which voted Leave to see it...nearly all areas of high deprivation. My town...which contains some of the most deprived areas nationally voted massively to Leave. Sad

I fully admit to being on the fence and voting Remain because I could not decide one way or the other. The misinformation was so bad from both camps.

HelenaDove · 13/03/2017 20:41

Badders im my DHs full time carer. He is a pensioner and we both voted Remain.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 20:41

The remain campaign was dire tbh Alfie

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 20:41

My eldest is 13

He is already planning to leave

fulloffunreally · 13/03/2017 20:42

GreenPeppers.

Then why was triggering A50 all marketed for today then.

Should have just left it be so. Wicked that Sturgeon made her announcement today aswell. Perfect storm whether you agree with her or not.

I don't think there is really much stomach for Brexit on behalf of PM really.

It will happen, I know that, but I don't really think it is something PM really really wants now.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 20:46

I think one of the most frustrating things is hearing the sheer ignorance of Leavers on the subject of the process of government, parliamentary sovereignty, the democratic process and the English & Welsh legal system; the very things so many of them claim to have voted for.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 20:46

Sorry, some Leavers.

MistressDeeCee · 13/03/2017 20:47

DDs have access to EU citizenship via their dad, and Im glad for them. Personally Im sick of the stupid, xenophobic politics in this country. Opposition parties are ineffective, I don't believe for a moment Teresa May is certain what she is doing, and it all seems designed to make the Tories appear brave and tough. Working class people don't matter, and rights will be eroded even more. So if it gets really bad I will leave, Im not over-fussed about ending my days here. I used to be, but not now. My sis has emigrated, brother is going in next few years so its got me thinking I guess. For the life of me I cannot see what is going to be so great after Brexit, and even those who claim we will be better off cannot give a definitive answer.

Yoyoyopo · 13/03/2017 20:48

How do I feel?

Just devastated

ohgoshIdontknow · 13/03/2017 20:49

Very fucking chuffed

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 13/03/2017 20:49

I think the UK is becoming the laughing stock of Europe. A poorly educated population raised on ready meals and tabloid newspapers.

Amen to that. This thread is about how we feel and I FEEL furious at the willful closed minded ignorance of large sections of the UK population. There is a whole world of easily accessible information out there and they chose to ignore it and believe what a few corrupt crooked politicians told them, who pandered to their ignorance and prejudices to try and further their own political careers. We have better access to universal education than we have ever had in the history of the country, and people choose to turn their backs on it.

Yes there were those who thought hard about voting Brexit and made an informed choice to do so. But don't try and tell me that everyone did so, when you still have people writing illiterate bollocks on social media about Brexit meaning that there will be fewer asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. Did they have even the tiniest clue what they were voting for? No. Envy and prejudice fueled many people's decision.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 20:50

There have always been very genuine eurosceptics

I have no issue with that

I do have issues with people who simply shout meaningless sound bites or quote headlines from the daily fail as their reasons for voting leave

They will learn I guess....
