or at some point this month?

And I know there is a EU board tucked away somewhere but I'm interested in everyone's views.

Depressed! Wishing I could get hold of an EU passport. Really we are making a huge change based on the will of 52% of the 72% who voted. Not really a majority at all and the original referendum bill should have thought about that possiblity ie minimum turnout, meaningful majority.
Cross that Cameron's conceit lead him to believe he could win a referendum on the basis of the "deal" that he didn't achieve. As for Corbyn- he did not want to be on the same side as Cameron so just wimped out .
Fed up about hearing about "remoaners" I voted for in the original ballot and in the last 40 years heard loads of complaints about the EU but did not object to hearing them. Now being unhappy about the "winners" Trump ( a minority president in the popular vote) or Brexit is somehow unacceptable. Where are we going?

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:48

I wonder if my elderly mother will be forced
to go back to Ireland - a country she hasn't lived in since she was 18?

I suppose now she is elderly and frail she has no more use?

She paid tax here for decades. She worked low paid jobs for years - as a care assistant for £2.50 an hour for example.

The tories plan is obv to stop EU workers working low paid jobs here...

The plan is for the children in school now/graduates to do these jobs.

Hence the cuts in HB, increase in zero hours contracts...in fact Asda have announced today that they are altering the pay of its workers and stopping paid breaks.

This is how it begins

This is the formation of an underclass

Enjoy!

Its very worrying and scary fulloffun. Like folly i have a DM who comes from another country She has been here for 57 years and has spent all of that time working until Christmas 2015 when she retired at the age of 79.

Shes now 81 and doesnt have citezenship She married my British dad back in 1965.

She enquired about citezenship in the past and was told she would have to give up any rights to the country she came from and that she couldnt have dual nationality.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 19:49

I'm really looking forward to this parliamentary sovereignty we voted for. Apparently it's supposed to be great - worth breaking the country apart for.

Just a shame it doesn't seem to have started yet.

mumeeee · 13/03/2017 19:49

Sad and worried that this is going to be a disaster.

lljkk · 13/03/2017 19:50

How I feel about it is like I'm being forced to sit down to a crappy never-ending meal. I don't get any choice what goes on my plate and MPs lack the balls to order the caterers to swap some of the more disgusting elements for something less revolting.

HelenaDove · 13/03/2017 19:51

YY Badders My DM worked the first few years in the 1960s as a dinner lady and a hospital cleaner and then the next 50 years in poultry factories.

DJBaggySmalls · 13/03/2017 19:51

Asda have announced today that they are altering the pay of its workers and stopping paid breaks.
If thats true I might have to look into boycotting Asda and switch to Lidl.

fulloffunreally · 13/03/2017 19:54

HelenaDove

That is so sad and worrying WRT Mum. There will be lots of people worrying now about their future status.

Badders

So awful for you and mum. Really terrible.

But I doubt they will be able to deport people just like that. However the threat of your status not being secure must be absolutely dreadful.

It is all so unnecessary really isn't it?

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:55

Who do the best and brightest think will wipe the arse of their dear old relative in the care home?

Or serve them their double macchiato?

Or clean their house?

Or pick their fruit and veg?

Can't see the delighted leavers queuing up for those jobs........

There's always jam making I guess....

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:55

It's all over Twitter baggy.

My boycott begins today 👍

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:57

Oh, and compulsory bank holiday working too

Brave new world 🌎

damnedgrubble · 13/03/2017 19:57

It is what it is. We'll just have to wait and see what happens but the country survived before the EU and the country will survive afterwards.

ButtercupChain · 13/03/2017 19:57

I am over the moon. It's what the British public voted for, and it's happening because the majority of the British public who voted, voted to leave the EU. This last 9 months of certain people trying to stop it have been a disgrace. Do they not know what the word 'democracy' means?

The person who has made me most furious of all is Gina Miller. Over-privileged rich foreign elite, trying to stop our democracy, to benefit herself and her rich peers.

Same with the Lords, and that giant cunt Tony Blair; - they only want to stay in the EU to benefit themselves. They don't give a shit about the British public. Anyone who thinks they do is deluded.

Some people don't believe this, but the UK leaving the EU will be one of the best things that's ever happened to us.

ForalltheSaints · 13/03/2017 19:57

More concerned with what we will end up with in March 2019.

fulloffunreally · 13/03/2017 19:58

Brits living abroad in the EU might have to watch out now. Will their status be affected on a reciprocal basis now?

It surely will not be a one way street. Form part of the negotiations maybe.

How arrogant of the HOC to do this without even thinking of the implications for millions of people both here and within the EU.

I'm probably being a bit of a drama llama but I am positively stunned by this vote.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 13/03/2017 19:59

Asda workerImage copyrightASDA. Asda is offering staff a higher wage in exchange for a new contract which will introduce unpaid breaks and a requirement to work over Bank Holidays.

The supermarket group will pay its workers £8.50 an hour, above the £7.50 National Living Wage rate due to come into force in April.
The "flexible" deal means Asda's 135,000 staff can work around the store, on different days and hours.

Asda says signing is voluntary and it is not a zero hours contract.
However, it means that employees must work on bank holidays if the store needs them to, or, if they want to take the time off, it must come out of their 28 days of annual leave. Additionally, all breaks will be unpaid and Asda will alter its night shift window. Currently, workers are paid an extra £2.04 for unsociable hours that run between 10.00pm and 6.00am.

I work for minimum wage, no breaks and bank holidays are just another day...no extra pay or time off

Race to the bottom isnt it

pointythings · 13/03/2017 19:59

I just feel relieved that my DDs have EU passports and will still have the opportunities to work, live and study in 27 countries.

DH and I are looking at the Ireland option. I used to love the UK, been here almost 20 years, built my career here, own property here, have a pension here. Now the love is gone.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 13/03/2017 20:00

Oh my god...epic bold fail

ToastDemon · 13/03/2017 20:00

Gina Miller is British. Naturalised. Like me. Wonder how long until they strip that off us when they start needing new scapegoats.
Fucking shameful.

Mumtobe12 · 13/03/2017 20:02

Worried about what kind of country my baby going to be born into. It's not what I wanted I think a lot of people regret their vote to leave but it too late now so better to get started and let the rollercoaster begin. Hoping for a more settled future

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 20:03

The person who has made me most furious of all is Gina Miller. Over-privileged rich foreign elite, trying to stop our democracy, to benefit herself and her rich peers.

Are you having a giraffe? Her legal action was arguing that Parliament should have to debate and vote on Brexit. You know...debate and vote as is standard in democracy, which apparently you're happy to bypass when it suits you.

HelenaDove · 13/03/2017 20:05

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39257259

And Asdas new way of working comes in this October..........two months before Christmas.

I wonder if any of their workers will be pressured to work into Christmas Day.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 20:07

The racist misogyny isn't even veiled anymore is it?

Gina miller ensured the govt followed UK parliamentary laws!!!

That pesky uk sovereignty you leavers are
all so hot for!

ButtercupChain · 13/03/2017 20:08

Yeah so what? Gina Miller did this only to benefit herself and her peers. NOT because she cares about the British Public. You're deluded if you think she and her rich cronies give a shit about the British public.

We are leaving - 100%. Deal with it.
