Did you order it as a kid's meal, op? How would they have known (or cared) that you were planning on feeding it to a baby? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 12/03/2017 17:55

So many unanswered questions....

BitOutOfPractice · 12/03/2017 17:57

Did you see an 11 month old eat it?

hippyhippyshake · 12/03/2017 18:01

Lol at 'ghastly'! It's food fgs. Well, apart from the thing I can't identify. Fish fingers, chips and peas, nothing wrong with that in the real world.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/03/2017 18:03

Of course it's far too much for an 11 month old. No-one would ever think a baby would eat all that.

If it's a pub kids meal it's probably designed for all primary school-ish aged DCs.

And the food quality is fine as an occasional meal. Would only be an issue if it was typical of the every day diet. Do the food police commenters never have a treaty junky meal?

steff13 · 12/03/2017 18:07

It's too much of the 11 month old ate it all, bit that seems unlikely. At that age, they generally eat until they're not hungry anymore. I wouldn't worry about the portions as much as what they're eating; it's not a very healthy meal.

skerrywind · 12/03/2017 18:09

Looks like a smile shaped potato.

Fish fingers are at best 50% fish. The rest is white four. So this is a meal of mostly unrefined carbohydrate and fat.
Shite.

Patriciathestripper1 · 12/03/2017 18:09

I wouldn't give 10 year old that much!

steff13 · 12/03/2017 18:10

Of course we do, but we never fed our kids junk when they were less than a year old. At that age we thought it was important to get them used to eating healthy food, in hopes they would continue to like healthy foods. Plenty of time for French fries when they're older.

PetalMettle · 12/03/2017 18:11

Fish fingers are one of the few things I can get my 20 month old to eat. It's not like they're eating a plate of crisps and chocolate.

PetalMettle · 12/03/2017 18:12

Oh and fwiw he was ebf and blw with casseroles, fresh veg etc. Shortly after he turned one he got super fussy

RubbishMantra · 12/03/2017 18:15

Agree with poster about Satanic leering plate face.

blueskyinmarch · 12/03/2017 18:18

I think it looks bloody delicious! Add a big dollop of ketchup and job done.

As one off meal it will do a child no harm. If the 11 mth old in question eats that food and that amount every day they are likely to become overweight. More context needed really.

tigerrun · 12/03/2017 18:20

OP long gone then presumably and still no context? Confused

noeffingidea · 12/03/2017 18:21

My kids ate fish fingers on the reg and came to no harm whatsoever.
I would have given an 11 month old one fish finger, some peas and about about 4 chips. Or 2 fish fingers and peas and no chips.
I thought the unidentified brown thing was onion rings. I would have not served them.

PetalMettle · 12/03/2017 18:24

Btw I make my own fish fingers and there's no way that they're 50% flour.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 18:28

Too big? well, how much is actually eaten...

But more importantly... so little green. And sooo much fried white/yellow stuff.

Red beets? baby rice? Avocado? Bananas? Lentils? Actual meat or fish (and not this fried stuff)? sweet potatoes? carrots? Squash? Zucchini? Apples? Pears? Blueberries?

I mean, something? Maybe this reaction makes me a snob. But this seems pretty awful.

I myself wouldn't want to prepare that for DH or me, letalone DD...

skerrywind · 12/03/2017 18:31

Me too, but Birds eye are 50% flour.

Phalarope · 12/03/2017 18:32

Have no problem with fish fingers, oven chips and peas. Is it not two rather than 3 fish fingers broken up?

My 3 year old would eat all that if I let her (would normally get 2 fish fingers, about half the chips, all the peas and another veg, and then demand pudding).

At 11 months, she'd have had a good go at most of that, and happily chased peas around the plate while I cleared up.

The other thing looks vile.

skerrywind · 12/03/2017 18:32

Not a snob at all..

halfofme · 12/03/2017 18:36

Depends on the whole story here. Is this a kids meal in a restaurant for children up to about 8? Did the 11 month old eat it all? Was it specifically for a baby?
It's a lot of food yes. If my dd had a meal like that it would be 2 fish fingers, a few chips and the peas. And she's a 4 and a half year old with a biggish appetite.

anothermalteserplease · 12/03/2017 18:37

Where did you have this meal? Of course it's too big for an 11 month old. Not getting into the nutritional content as no 11 month would eat all that anyway. Spoonful of peas, couple of chips and a few pieces of the fish inside the fish finger would be fine for a baby that age I'd have thought.

Trifleorbust · 12/03/2017 18:38

Food police out again Hmm

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 12/03/2017 18:38

That (apart from the weird turkey thing) looks like a pretty average meal for my DD (almost 3). She wouldn't eat all of it because she's up and down from the table like a jack in the box but she'd probably have about 2/3.

Yeah it's probably "junk". But if someone wants to fill my wallet with enough disposable income to buy a load of lentils and avocados and kale that will go to waste because she won't touch it, feel free.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 18:39

skerrywind

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic. Blush
