What the hell is this 'present' from work colleagues? (Pic included)

My very lovely work colleagues got me a beautiful present for my birthday today (happy birthday to me). It was a voucher for John Lewis that they had all clubbed together to get.

They also handed me a present and told me it was a joke and said I had to open it at home. And that I could chuck it away once opened, they didn't need it back. All my work colleagues were smiling to themselves.

Expecting a massive chocolate penis or something equally immature I opened it and found this.

It looks to me like this is a section of a handheld vacuum cleaner. I don't get the joke at all! 🤔

I'm not messy or particularly clean. It's been used they've not given me a new one.

They're a great bunch and we're all really close so it won't have been meant as nasty.

They messaged me on group chat and won't tell me what the joke is until tomorrow morning. So I thought I'd come to mumsnet to see if you can work it out.

What the hell is this, and what's the joke?

Amazed somebody worked it out from that. Well done, aroseforemily!

I think it's very funny. Not insulting or PA at all. It just shows what a great bunch of friends you have there, that they would go to so much effort just to say that Grin

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:18

Thanks Donkeys, it was hard to tell on my phone screen.

Take a box of coffee filters in to work, just in case the Dyson breaks. Happy birthday OP.

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 10/03/2017 19:27

I. Don't like it 🤷‍♀️
Seems a bit spiteful

spooniestudent · 10/03/2017 20:05

That's a lot of effort, but quite funny.
Happy birthday op Cake

TheUnicorns · 10/03/2017 20:22

Some people are a little precious aren't they Smile

I think it's funny. I do wonder why they've gotten rid of an expensive hoover just for a joke though!!!!

DramaQueenofHighCs · 10/03/2017 21:14

Great one!

Zoflorabore · 10/03/2017 21:18

This is part of someone's hoover! The emptying part so pretty sure they will need it back Grin

Seems very strange though and quite cryptic, are they known for being jokers?

It must be part of an in joke that you have and it's not as obvious to you as it clearly is to them, unless you empty it and there is something in the dust canister for you??

MargotLovedTom1 · 10/03/2017 21:28

I think it's funny. And the picture is of a foot in mouth, not a smiley face. The losing your virginity chat with your boss is hilarious!

Zoflorabore · 10/03/2017 21:32

Sorry hadn't read the thread before posting Blush
Was sort of right though...

Glad you've taken it with the spirit it was intended, sounds like a great bunch to work with.

KellyElly · 10/03/2017 21:37

Some people on this forum lack humour, or sarcastic humour at least. Amazing!!

mydietstartsmonday · 10/03/2017 21:58

Very funny, only good friends would go to that much trouble.

Serialweightwatcher · 11/03/2017 20:48

Oh lol - didn't realise it was just that you had no filter when talking OP ..... I read it as it was a filter for f**king with and couldn't understand how or why Grin

LadyPW · 12/03/2017 14:51

Well unfortunately I'm another who lacks a sense of humour (Hmm) because I'm not finding it funny. I guess if you're well known for having no filter and are happy to joke about it with them then that's funny and all's well with the world. But given the post on here recently from the manager who told her staff member that they needed to basically stop talking and the staff member did just that....

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 12/03/2017 17:44

Haha they sound great, as do you! Happy birthday x
