I'm afraid I do pronounce chorizo the correct/'wanky' way because I can't pronounce it any other way. I would have to make a conscious effort to say it wrong which would just be weird.

Yes, stupid people may think I sound like a dick and it's wanky to pronounce words correctly. I really don't care. No clueless English person has ever corrected me or pretended not to understand me, but if they did I'd be correcting them right back.

Oh and I pronounce it in the Southern Spanish/Latin American way as most of the time I've spent in Spanish speaking countries has been in places where you use "s" in place of "th" so that is how I speak Spanish. But choreetho is obviously a fair approximation of the way most Spanish people pronounce it.

I pronounce it chorizo with the z like in buzz, DH pronounces it chor ee tho which may or may not be correct but I don't like how it sounds. Sorry. But I like chor it zo even less!

I speak Spanish but pronounce the z as a z because I'd sound like a twat otherwise. I pronounce Paris as Paris, not Par-ee, and Barcelona as Bar-suh-lona, not Bar-thuh-lona, for similar avoiding sounding like a twat reasons... And I do get annoyed when people overly pronounce foreign words in English, I don't know why though, I guess it just comes across as quite pretentious.

I once had an English friend staying in Lisbon at a place called Ninho das Águias. Apparently, she had some trouble saying it to the taxi driver.

I fondly remember trying to get a bar of Nestle Dairy Crunch from a kiosk in Brazil. My efforts to pronounce in Portuguese were no doubt highly amusing and they couldn't understand the English way. In the end I had to say " the one in the blue packet" in Portuguese.
