To want to get my grocery delivery driver sacked?

EveryLittleBitDoesNotHelp · 26/02/2017 16:12

So basically ordered my dm's weekly grocery shop online to her house for today.

She is not very well suffering with hip problems so I'm helping to take care of her. I also have my ds with me.

Delivery was late but not really arsed about that even though it was inconvenient.

The driver had parked at the back of her house then scaled her back garden gate to unlock it. He dragged the shopping cart thingy down her patio steps and banged at the window (there's no bell, knocker or letterbox ect as it's a back door leading straight to the lounge). I was bfeeding ds in there.

My dm opened the door ajar and said "please could you come around the front as my dd is bfeeding". The driver shouted at her! said "well the satnav told me to come this way, why can't you just take the shopping here?". dm explained that I had my breasts exposed and the baby was getting cold, and that she couldn't carry the shopping to the front of the house due to her disabilities.

Driver reluctantly brought the shopping around to the front door and left. dm laughed him off as just being a miserable git.

So heard the back gate banging in the wind as he left it open. Just went outside to close it and he has lifted one of dm's patio slabs on her steps and just left it!

Complained to the customer service line but they just said they'd pass it onto the store manager. I'm fuming! my poor dm she is elderly and vulnerable. What should I do next? should i escalate my complaint and hope this selfish twat gets sacked?.

Im shocked at some.people defending this guy. He scaled a gate - entering private property illegally - banged on a BACK DOOR. -rude unless stated to use back door- Got annoyed with elderly woman -inagine if she had been alone? She probably would have felt intimidated. - vandalised private property - breaking the law. Your damn bloody right he should be sacked for fuk sake. I would call the police and get him done for vandalism aswell. Imagine your poor dmil trying to hobble to close the back gate alone in the house tripping falling on the slab? Thsi could.be fatal for her. But yeah hes a had a shit day so its okay. WTAF

My Sainsbury's delivery are brilliant! Shock

DrunkenMissOrderly · 26/02/2017 17:53

You'd call the police? Christ.

heartisshattered · 26/02/2017 17:54

OP you sound like a NIGHTMARE.

OnionKnight · 26/02/2017 17:54

And over reaction of the day goes to Boosh.

Serialweightwatcher · 26/02/2017 17:55

Whichever shop it is through, they are supposed to take it where you want it - I shop with Tesco and they've always been great. Just use another supermarket if you order online for her in the future

eddiemairswife · 26/02/2017 17:55

My Waitrose deliverers are lovely.

Call the police? Confused

lalalalyra · 26/02/2017 18:00

I'll be sure to leave a note saying please use the front.

They probably won't read it. I've given up with two supermarkets now because they don't read the note.

Our house is on a hill. If you come into the drive then the front door is up 10 steps. There is also 6 steps inside the door to the kitchen. If you ignore the front door and go to the side/back door (it's like 20 steps from where they park on the drive) it's a) straight into the kitchen and b) no steps. Numerous times I opened the front door to a driver who'd carted the shopping up the 10 steps and was stood there stony faced when they see the steps inside. Just read the last page ffs.

Breastfeeding - if your breasts were exposed you are doing it wrong.

ADayGivingMeHope · 26/02/2017 18:04

I would threaten the store to report to the police for vandalism if they don't respond and if they don't then do it. That could be dangerous for your mum with her health issues. (If your sure it was him)
The rest is irrelevant after that.

happymumof4crazykids · 26/02/2017 18:06

Wasn't Tesco was it?

Bantanddec · 26/02/2017 18:07

"Her breasts are exposed my good man!!"

BikeRunSki · 26/02/2017 18:07

If there is no road access to the front, I think it's a little harsh on the driver to be upset that he came to the back. Could you not have moved?

witsender · 26/02/2017 18:14

Why move? All he had to do was put the stuff on the floor inside the door.

He sounds unusual, but I would have just pointed out that he had come to the wrong door and left it at that? Why make him take it round?

PixieGrace · 26/02/2017 18:16

I think it's bad that he climbed over the gate but other than that I think you were being very precious and creating problems where they were none! Could he not just have left the delivery inside the door unpacked from the crates until you'd finished breastfeeding and could carry them through to your mum's kitchen? And the slab being lifted was probably just an accident when he dragged the cart up the steps.

I've ordered at various times from all of the major supermarkets and have experienced nothing but lovely, helpful, friendly drivers. I certainly can't imagine any that I've met ever shouting at a customer.

Fruitcocktail6 · 26/02/2017 18:19

I still don't understand why DM didn't take the bags at the back door, then you could've helped carry them through to the kitchen when you finished breastfeeding?

And as pp said, why were your breasts 'exposed'?

novemberontrumpwatch · 26/02/2017 18:21

I've got the theme from 'Mission Impossible' running through my head now.

TheFairyCaravan · 26/02/2017 18:31

Christ! What a todo about nothing.

The poor bloke had to climb the gate to one it, drag the shopping down the steps only to be met with a woman telling him he couldn't possibly just leave the bags there because her daughter "had her breasts exposed"! Hmm. What harm would it have done to have left it there?

I've had my shopping delivered every week for about the last 15 years. Never have I been shouted at, and we've used Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons. They are always polite and ask where I want it puttting.

I have Tesco do a delivery to DS2 most weeks at uni. His halls was the biggest pain in the arse for access I've ever been to. The Tesco drivers always were polite and even carried his stuff up to the 3rd floor for him.

I reckon they get pissed off with people not filling in that box on the order, before you checkout, where it specifically asks you for extra information like don't deliver to the back door. Did you fill that in OP?

I would be grateful that he lifted the patio slab, tbh. He's brought it to your attention and you can get it fixed now before your mum trips over it and lands up in hospital.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 26/02/2017 18:46

OP. There's really strong winds here todsh (Storm Ewan or other). Is it possible the weather could have made it come loose? Or has he managed to pull it off lugging the shopping up?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 26/02/2017 18:47

*today

FriendlyPolecat · 26/02/2017 18:47

You're probably possibly the but of jokes back at that Tesco now

HappyFlappy · 26/02/2017 19:00

My Sainsbury's delivery are brilliant!

So are mine Sou.

I've had deliveries at various times from four different supermarkets (I get coupons Grin )

All of the drivers have been lovely - very helpful and courteous.

How old is your mother OP?
