Trump's interviews with Breitbart and Fox demonstrate the complete subservience he wants from the press. mediamatters.org/blog/2017/02/28/donald-trump-wants-total-subservience-interviewers/215494

No Rs vote for the #ResolutionofInquiry. But we'll just keep bringing it back. Temp setback in fight for the truth. Got them on the record!

AcrossthePond55 · 28/02/2017 23:45

The committee members voting 'no' on conducting an investigation do so not just to shield Trump and thereby retain the presidency for the GOP, but to shield themselves from any similar investigation in future. They know that if they open that can of worms, they may find themselves having to answer questions they don't want to answer. Also a case of 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours'.

It's disgusting. I'm sure similar things have gone on for decades, but this time someone has kicked the rock over and we're seeing the slimy underside and the nasty critters crawling around looking for a new place to hide. I hope to God they don't find one!

AcrossthePond55 · 28/02/2017 23:46

Oh, by the way, DH and I are eating supper early tonight. We want our meal to be well digested before the speech starts! (6pm my time)

Gin Torch 💊

cozietoesie · 28/02/2017 23:50

Ha!

SenecaFalls · 28/02/2017 23:56

DH and I are having pancakes in honor of Mardi Gras and Shrove Tuesday, but I don't think I had better risk listening to Trump on a belly full of pancakes, syrup, and bacon. I'll have to rely on those of y'all who are made of sterner stuff to report back. Crown

cozietoesie · 28/02/2017 23:57

Sadly for him, he can't be a king. Grin '

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 00:00

Trump: "Obama is behind the protests!!!!!"
Trump: "The Democrats are behind the JCC threats"
Trump: "I inherited a mess!!"
Trump: "No one knew how complicated health care was!!"

FAKE news, LIES, fake lies. We need the Trump Oracle.
cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 00:05

Across

Have Gin. Otherwise, you'll not be able to watch the speech without strangling the gerbil! Grin

SenecaFalls · 01/03/2017 00:11

I'm going to just wait for Colbert. He's live tonight after the speech.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 00:13

Good thinking. A breath of sanity, usually - and intelligence. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 00:14

"Strangling the gerbil"? Sounds like something Trump would do in his gold-plated loo.

Seneca Colbert probably won't be on right after the speech in my time zone, but I'll be watching it on YouTube tomorrow AM.

SanFranBear · 01/03/2017 01:10

Torch in anticipation

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 01:24

Pass it on, SanFran, no bogarting! God knows, we're all going to need it!

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 02:36

Lots of what he's gonna do, not a fucking word about just how it's going to get done. Oh yeah, except huge tax cuts for his fat cat business cronies

SapphireSeptember · 01/03/2017 02:48

Hello everyone! I ❤ Colbert, I discovered The Late Show videos on YouTube and I'm hooked! He's so funny, and it's nice to have something to laugh about while despairing about the state of the world. (It's quarter to fucking three in the morning, I need to go to bed!) See y'all later!

Out2pasture · 01/03/2017 02:52

I actually like the speech

saffronwblue · 01/03/2017 03:05

Sorry I tried and I just can't watch it. He is trying to be all statesmanlike and measured.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 03:32

It was patently obvious that Scrotus had nothing to do with writing that speech. Very pretty words about jobs, healthcare, veterans, and lots of pretty promises. But 'all sound and fury, signifying nothing' when it came to exactly how it was all going to come to pass.

Then pure bile when it came to refugees and immigrants. The formation at DHS of an 'Office for Immigrant Crime' (or whatever he called it). How ugly.

But now I intend to find the stupidest, funniest comedy on TV. Oh, and use some mouthwash. That speech left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 03:33

And I'm not talking about 'cottonmouth'. Grin Torch

TheClaws · 01/03/2017 04:10

What was this about "6 trillion spent in the Middle East"?

Apparently only $1.6 trillion has been spent in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars (between 2001-2014). Supposedly he added the amount he WANTS TO spend in the future to this. That is decidedly ambiguous, if not deliberately misleading - most people will hear the number, be outraged and won't think about it.

TheClaws · 01/03/2017 04:16

And I hated the picture he drew of a typical immigrant: illegal, criminal, out to get your jobs, and will likely harm your (white American) family, the family that would have been well-off if not for the clawing scourge. Awful.
