Not an AIBU, just posting for traffic Smile

I just realised that my hairdryer is 15 years old. It's a Remington, and it still works perfectly, so no need to replace it.

I also have a spice rack (spinny round one) which is 10 years old. The spices in it have changed, obviously Wink

Anyone beat those?

Another Kenwood chef mixer here... mine is 34 years old.

tooyoungtobeagrandma · 25/02/2017 22:02

Two bedside lights bought when I worked for Habitat back around 1977, still work perfectly and look quite modern. We use daily the Denby plates and bowls I was given when I married early 1970s, can still get replacements on ebay! And upstairs in the camphor chest bought back from Malaya by my parents in the early 1950s is my teddy bear, a bit threadbare now, but squeaker still works. Its not doing badly for 65 years old.

UserUmpteen · 25/02/2017 22:03

I have a Singer sewing machine too.

Bubblysqueak · 25/02/2017 22:03

My keyboard is 20 yrs old and has been used weekly up until 4 years ago.and now daily by ds who listens to the preprogrammed songs to fall asleep to.

SaucyJack · 25/02/2017 22:05

Our toilet is 51 years old. We have to literally pull the chain it's that old- but it flushes a lot better than a lot of those modern ones that just swill half a teaspoon of water round the pan.

scaryteacher · 25/02/2017 22:05

My Kenwood is 31 years old. My clock radio was bought for Christmas when I was 10 or 11, I am now 51, and it still works! Dh's classic car is from the mid 80s, and his other piece of kit is still flying and is from the 70s.

MiddlingMum · 25/02/2017 22:08

Radio alarm clock, about 35 years old.
Various musical instruments, one nearly 100 years old and played every day.
Ironing board, at least 40 years old, although it has had a new cover.
A rock, used to prop the back door open, approximately 600 million years old Grin

gluteustothemaximus · 25/02/2017 22:12

This house is a museum, frankly including some of the occupants

Grin

Have just realised I still have my old casio keyboard from when I was small. I kept it and gave it to DS, and now to DD. It's 30 years old. Yay.

Although still a long way off from the very impressive ages of some items on here!

I also have a book that dates from 1753.

Elderlyelna · 25/02/2017 22:13

(I've name changed as don't fancy being outed by kitchen ware)

I inherited a Roberts radio that I suspect is older than I am, but I don't know for certain.

My Elna sewing machine is 38 years old and still wonderful (hopefully not jinxed now).
Our Kuhn rikon pressure cooker is 21 years old and works perfectly.

I think my hair dryer is 17 this year

Puremince · 25/02/2017 22:15

I still have an indestructible orange and yellow palm tree design towel which I was given when I started swimming lessons in the 1970s; Mum thought it wouldn't get muddled up with anyone else's in the changing room. My kids used it as their swimming lesson towel, too, and we use it as a beach towel.

spankhurst · 25/02/2017 22:18

Piano built 1904.
My parents have a wall clock from 1969.

I have a Sinclair calculator dating from the early 1970's which was given to my dad by Clive Sinclair.

Oh, and a Breville sandwich toaster I bought in 1983.

Man10 · 25/02/2017 22:22

In 1989 I bought a folding table and chair set from a catalogue in a Sunday newspaper. It's still my main dining table. (Every time I've looked at similar items since I've found them inferior to mine.)

I moved into my current flat in 1989, the built-in microwave, oven, gas hob and extractor fan I inherited are still in use.

Man10 · 25/02/2017 22:23

Current flat in 1998, that should have said.

maisiejones · 25/02/2017 22:23

Me! 😀

Man10 · 25/02/2017 22:24

I still have the hairdryer I bought in the Co-op in Hammersmith in 1988. Though admittedly it's hardly been used since about 1990.

Mouse510 · 25/02/2017 22:25

My DM still uses the hairdryer she was given for her 21st birthday, she will be 66 next week.

Elderlyelna · 25/02/2017 22:29

Ah, I didn't see that ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander has the same sewing machine! Mine's 1978 though, so perhaps subtly different? Still a glowing recommendation for Elna though

ladyvimes · 25/02/2017 22:30

Found an ice cream maker that's hardly been used in my parents attic. It's at least 30 years old and works like a dream! It's a posh one that freezes as it stirs and the modern ones are essentially exactly the same (and about £300)!

cazisalittlenuts · 25/02/2017 22:31

I have an ottoman in my bedroom that is older than I am (37). It belonged to my late grandmother and used to be a toybox for my aunts, uncles and mum, the lid is starting to look like its seen better days (the padding is now flatter than a pancake and the chipboard lid itself is starting to crack) but its still sturdier than sturdy and gets used as a computer chair for my desktop pc. Also got a green "broom" hoover (very lightweight) that belonged to late dear aunt, its about 15 years old. Marble rolling pin and marble pastry board thing approx 30 years old, were also my grans. A calor gas 2 ring camping stove that was in use when my mum and aunts were in their early teens, we use it now during powercuts. Babyliss crimping tongs my aunt gave me for christmas when I was 10. Also found some pudding bowls my mum tells belonged to my great grandma who passed in 1977 or so.

claraschu · 25/02/2017 22:34

My violin, from 1683.
