Not an AIBU, just posting for traffic Smile

I just realised that my hairdryer is 15 years old. It's a Remington, and it still works perfectly, so no need to replace it.

I also have a spice rack (spinny round one) which is 10 years old. The spices in it have changed, obviously Wink

Anyone beat those?

Well the house was built in 1885 so I guess it's the fireplace.

kiwimumof2boys · 28/02/2017 09:22

Kitchen mixer that still works great that must be at least 30 years old (was my grandmothers and I inherited it when she went into a home so not 100% sure put is mustard yellow).
My DMum's clothes dryer is over 40 years old (older than me) and still works great! The washing machine she bought with it only died about 5 years ago.

LaVacheKiri · 28/02/2017 09:39

I still have a green Gameboy that was gifted to me around 20 years ago, can't bring myself to get rid of it and will occasionally sneak in a game of Pokemon or Donkey Kong...

Underbrella · 28/02/2017 11:17

I've got a few old electrical items that still work fine. Solar powered calculator which I thought was so modern ~32yrs ago. Hairdryer ~25 yrs but probably only used a handful of times since I let my hair dry naturally.

The one I'm most impressed by is my 30yr old Philips Ladyshave which has had at least weekly use for most of its life! I dread that giving up the ghost cos the modern one I bought yrs ago thinking it must be better just isn't!

Rixera · 28/02/2017 11:29

My wardrobe, from 1876
Sewing machine from 1918
Copy of the Arabian Nights from 1732 (my oldest book, but many other ancients still perfectly readable!)
Amongst others.
Old things last!

Purplebluebird · 28/02/2017 11:51

My teddy bear Grin had it since my first Christmas (at 9 months old). Still love it, it's been with me forever. I know, massive sentimental value! It's 28 now.

Springersrock · 28/02/2017 11:57

I inherited a Kenwood mixer from my gran. My Mum thinks she remembers her using it before I was born, or just after, so it must be 40 years old.

Crumbs1 · 28/02/2017 13:03

Part of our house is 11th century. The salt cupboard is probably around 1600. Furniture dates from late 16th century (through to modern). Glasses are early Regency. Dinner service is Regency. Clocks from 17 th century.

TriJo · 28/02/2017 13:16

My bike is seven years old.

I don't have any really old things because I had to reduce the contents of an apartment to three big suitcases when I moved country four years ago though.

We have a piano that dMIL bought when she was in her early 20s - so it is around 60 years old. Her father did not approve of her desire for a career in music, so when she had saved up out of her salary, to buy the piano, he charged her rent to put it in the house!

HalleLouja · 28/02/2017 13:38

We have my DH's dad's mower. Must be over 20 years old and still works.

Ooh Mrs Marigold that's good! I thought we were doing well with our remote control car that is 17...

Tumble dryer is 10...but we keep having new bits changed.

Owlzes · 28/02/2017 14:20

My dad has a 30 year old washing machine. It no longer works unless you kick it after shutting the door. He maintains it's cheaper to kick it that buy a new one.

I have a hand mixer which was my grandma's and is probably older than me, and a food processor which must be more than 30 years old. Both still going strong. I don't have much luck normally with gadgets.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/02/2017 15:34

We have a kenwood mixer that is over 30 years old. Still works like a dream!

ForalltheSaints · 28/02/2017 18:22

I inherited the toaster from my sister after she sold a flat and did not need it- in 1997.

scurryfunge · 28/02/2017 18:26

My 23 year old dishwasher has recently moved out and got his own flat.

NiceMoustache · 28/02/2017 18:37

As per the op my hairdryer is also the oldest working electrical thing in my house. I've had it since I was 16 and I'm 37 this year so it's 21 and still going strong. I've also got a comb that I still use that I got free with just seventeen magazine in about 1994 blush

I have a Just Seventeen comb from 1983 ...

Greenicicle · 28/02/2017 18:44

Tumble dryer
Got it when I was expecting my first. She's 22 this year

whirlygirly · 28/02/2017 21:06

I bought a cheap Remington travel hairdryer almost 20 years ago and it's still going strong. I almost wish it wouldn't so I could justify a fancy new one but it's been brilliant value for the £15 it cost me..! Grin

Smurfy23 · 28/02/2017 21:14

I have a food processor my auntie gave me in 1998 as she no longer wanted it....so minimum 19 years old but possibly more!
