Not an AIBU, just posting for traffic Smile

I just realised that my hairdryer is 15 years old. It's a Remington, and it still works perfectly, so no need to replace it.

I also have a spice rack (spinny round one) which is 10 years old. The spices in it have changed, obviously Wink

Anyone beat those?

I have a 40 year old Kenwood Chef - with a big metal bowl - still works a treat - it was my mums

Makinglists · 28/02/2017 21:23

Me (though there are bits that are temperamental) Otherwise have a pair of shoes bought in 1993 that are still in good form.

perfectlybroken · 28/02/2017 21:30

My kenwood chef is about 40 years old and works like a dream. I also have a fish slice that my 70 year old dad made at school in cdt. Used it tonight!

Iris65 · 28/02/2017 21:31

That would be me 😉

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/02/2017 21:33

I have an Edwardian toilet. The flush is spectacular but a bit profligate with the water....

ModreB · 28/02/2017 21:36

I have a saucepan that was a wedding gift to my grandmother in 1937. I use it at least once a week. It makes the best stew EVER.

bangingmyheadoffabrickwall · 28/02/2017 21:38

A kenwood chef food mixer. It is over 50 years old!
It's fab. Truly the best thing we have and MIL gave it to us because she doesn't need it anymore.

Hausfrau29 · 28/02/2017 22:00

The oldest electrical appliance I have is my Nan's old hand mixer which has the receipt in the box from 25th December 1980. It's brilliant and I still use it loads. Although she probably didn't, bless her - might be why it's still going strong! It was a slightly optimistic Christmas present for her from my Grandad...

Other bits, I guess the oldest thing is a Singer sewing machine from 1913 that I still use (I say still use, I don't mean I've used it since 1913, only got it about 10 years ago!)

OhSoggyBiscuit · 28/02/2017 22:51

The hob in my parents house is from the 1970s and still going! (the age of said hob I only learnt today when they had to have their gas turned off because the hob was leaking!!)

xxrachiexx97 · 28/02/2017 23:36

It was my Grannies but now its sits on top of my Mums fridge! ....Bush TR82C radio from 1960's , still works perfectly fine its got a great sound to it aswell!

Liiinoo · 28/02/2017 23:44

I have the heated rollers my BF gave me for my birthday 36 years ago, a knife that belonged to his grandad who was a chef on the QEII and who retired 45 years ago, a dining table my dad built in about 1969 and the Hostess trolley my dad bought my mum when we moved house in1976. I also have pyjamas, sports bras and posh frocks older than my 24 yo DD.

Hairdryer from 1984 so 32 years old.
Tumble dryer used to be my parents', also 1984.

Have a tool box with hand drill, hammer, bradawl etc that belonged to MrNC's grandfather, so some of those date back to the 1930s, possibly 20s. Hammers and awl get used frequently.

I have some pots and pans and a few towels left that my mum got in 1958 when she married. She's still using most of them. Wonderful soft long-fibre towels. They don't make them like that any more (brand still exists but isn't any good).

Woody67 · 01/03/2017 00:30

The tumble dryer. My DH owned it for several years before we met which was 22 years ago!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/03/2017 08:10

Whilst doing laundry the other I realised that one of my favourite, most comfortable pair of pants is actually 17 years old. They're were one of a pack of five bought from Debenhams.

My chap has a vintage games room in the attic. Games consoles dating from the late 60's onwards. All of them work.

Otherpeoplesteens · 01/03/2017 08:42

I moved into the current house in 2001 and a great many of the electrical appliances bought new then expired within a rather expensive six month period last year: fridge, dishwasher, lawnmower, coffee machine, vacuum, pressure washer. The freezer bought a few months after moving here is on life support, and I'm praying the boiler will hold out until we move.

My Philips rice cooker is 23 years old and has been in constant use, and the Panasonic fax machine turns 21 this summer. I've just replaced a food processor and hand held blender which were both a similar age and worked, although had developed large cracks in the plastic. My Mom's Kenwood chef is now well into its fifth decade and still chugging along, and my Dad is also still using both a box fan and a fan heater that date back to the early 80s.

My Blackberry is seven years old and not getting replaced anytime soon, while the 2004-ish Nokia 6310 it replaced still works.

ShatnersWig · 01/03/2017 08:45

Wind-up gramophone, 1917.

amammabear · 01/03/2017 14:21

Oldest item in my house that still works?

That'll be my Dad....

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 01/03/2017 14:49

A slow cooker which was a wedding present, 22 yo.

Earlier this year I had to ditch my filter coffee machine which was also a wedding present.

My last oven lasted 15 years, dishwasher was 15 yo when that died.

Hubby inherited a gramophone player, the receipt is dated June 1957.

Hubby's nan gave me her ironing board when we moved into our first house in 1993, no idea how old it is, it was her first and last ironing board, she died aged 86, its wooden with a chain running along the underneath to put it up and adjust the height. I totally love it and use it every day, it has about 5 covers on it Smile will never replace it with a bigger/newer one, this is so solid it'll see me out.

I've got a salter kitchen scales that was my DMs, I can remember it when I was small & the colour of it shouts 1970s. Do I win? Haven't rtft yetGrin

MrsJayy · 01/03/2017 16:28

We have a huge steel pot that was dh grannies that we got when mil died i make soup in it dh did have to replace handles on it when he lived at home so i dont think that counts as still working does it ?

daisypond · 01/03/2017 16:46

Pressure cooker from the 1960s. Boiler in the house is from the 1980s and still going strong, having never broken down. So is the telly... Got a couple of antiquey clocks from the 1800s, which still work, too.

BertieBotts · 01/03/2017 16:50

Most of my saucepans are from 1983. Lovely condition although the handles do not like the dishwasher they've recently been introduced to, which is a shame. But I think that they can be replaced because the pans themselves look brand new. Copper bottoms, stainless steel.

Our dishwasher is from about 1994 and is unhappy. It has to have its knobs turned in just the right way Hmm :o

There are probably other things, but those are what come to mind.
