Not an AIBU, just posting for traffic Smile

I just realised that my hairdryer is 15 years old. It's a Remington, and it still works perfectly, so no need to replace it.

I also have a spice rack (spinny round one) which is 10 years old. The spices in it have changed, obviously Wink

Anyone beat those?

Oh almost forgot - my sewing machine was my mother's from the 1960s (she bought herself a new one about 5 years ago). It still works perfectly.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 25/02/2017 21:30

Of electrical items, my food processor which I've had for 25 years and is still working fine.

I've got bowls, cutlery etc that are 30+ years old. Dh and I got married 23 years ago and got quite a bit of Le Creuset as wedding presents which is still great, and will probably outlast us.

Our fridge freezer was bought when I was pregnant with ds1 who is almost 21.

Floralnomad · 25/02/2017 21:31

The built in oven is 22 but not used every day , same for the hob which is used daily . DH is 57 and everything still works .

TroysMammy · 25/02/2017 21:31

Electric hand mixer 28 years old.

Longdistance · 25/02/2017 21:32

Well, the Beko fridge freezer I got in 2000 when I bought my first house is now in my garage, keeping drinks cool.

I also have an Ikea box cheese grater. Ikea plastic spoon, fish slice from then.

Dh has a dish from his dm that's from the 70's that we love.

Weedsnseeds1 · 25/02/2017 21:32

Bread oven 230 years

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 25/02/2017 21:32

We have a microwave given to us as a wedding present in 1998 and a set of saucepans which were given to FIL around 35 years ago. MIL gave them to us for our first flat in 1996.

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 25/02/2017 21:33

My nan's colander 😀A wedding present in 1938 and still going strong. I think of her every time I use it.

Another colander I bought in Sainsbury's went rusty in weeks. Hmm

wobblywonderwoman · 25/02/2017 21:33

I love old things - the oldest thing is a 100 year old coin dh gave me to pug in my shoe on our wedding day. We have a lot of antique furniture that has been gifted and also that we bought. Recently a chair from an old church. Grandfather clock. Bookcase from local convent. Singer sewing machine table.

I also have a deceased aunts wedding dress and some other special items.

PrincessWizard · 25/02/2017 21:33

My rolling pin was my great grandmothers. It must be 100 years old or there abouts. I love using it!!

gluteustothemaximus · 25/02/2017 21:34

I thought there might be a few DH/DP's mentioned Grin

A lot of things I have are 10 years old, as that's how long I've been in this house.

I thought I did well with a 15 year old hairdryer, but it's seems I'm well and truly outdone by a lot of large appliances! Grin

I have a super large bath towel which my nan got as a wedding gift 60 years ago. To be fair she didn't use it at all until I got my hands on it when I moved out 16 years ago. It's a bit frayed but I love it. Wraps right round me after a bath and goes nearly to the floor.

BriantheWife · 25/02/2017 21:35

I have a book printed in 1566, so it's 451 years old. It's in great condition, so technically it works as it's perfectly legible.

It would also be readable if I understood Latin. Grin

ADishBestEatenCold · 25/02/2017 21:36

A 200 year old metronome. Works perfectly.

AllTheLight · 25/02/2017 21:37

My favourite hoodie is 23 years old, I still wear it regularly.

identityhidden · 25/02/2017 21:38

Cooker , microwave and fridge are all about 20 years old according to landlord. None of them work very well (cooker is crap especially) but they still switch on!

The blanket on my bed is around about 120 years old though, was on my gt grandmothers bed when she was a child. It's a very heavy woollen thing, can't remember the make. Have it under my sheet/mattress cover , it's just on top of the mattress. Traps heat or something. DM has one too as does her mum I think - have been told if I don't want it have to give it back to mum. Probably not worth money but too old to just get rid of

Pitchforktotheface · 25/02/2017 21:38

My Kenwood chef. It was a wedding present to my husband's grandparents in 1958.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/02/2017 21:39

I now have my mum's Kenwood Chef
Mixer, complete with all the attachments, from the 19 70s. I also have a dining table that has to be 80 years old.

HearTheThunderRoar · 25/02/2017 21:43

Our bed frame / mattress in the spare room, it was my parent's and they bought it in the 1950s when they first got married 4 children were conceived in that bed Grin

TalkingofMichaelAngel0 · 25/02/2017 21:43

My mum has a bread knife the same age as my 51 year old brother. She refuses to get a new one.

MarklahMarklah · 25/02/2017 21:44

Sideboard (starting to skew a bit) and table & chairs set = 93 years
Pyrex baking dishes = around 50 years
Current sofa = 17 years

OhTheRoses · 25/02/2017 21:45

I have some engraved crystal tumblers (3) in the cupboard and a samovar and an icon that came to the UK with my grandfather's family. They left Russia in 1917 and got to the UK via China and India in 1920. They date back to about 1850-60. But they aren't used so to speak.
