That article about Canada is interesting because they are not saying "don't accept immigrants" but they ARE saying they want to rip up the agreement with the US so that they can accept them at border crossings. That will allow the immigrants to enter through regular border crossings and claim asylum, whereas right now they cannot. The agreement was based on the idea that the US was a "safe place" but Canadians are now feeling that the US cannot be considered a safe place, so therefore the agreement must be ripped up. There is concern over safety for not only Canadians but also of the immigrants when they are crossing through fields and such - especially through deep snow.

I fear it's coming towards new thread time.

It may unite people rather than divide. There were some Dems saying if Perez got it, (or rather if Ellison didn't) then they'd leave the Dems. But there are always some, aren't there? I think Trump's agenda alone will unite the Dems.
