Now here's a statesmen I think we can all agree, wears it well Grin

www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/02/24/trudeau-strikes-again-breaks-the-internet-with-a-picture-of-his-butt/

I particularly like this part of the rant afterwards: This picture right here gon have people plan a road trip to Canada and just write “Justin Trudeau” on a map as the destination like his first name is the longitude and his last name is the latitude

StatisticallyChallenged · 26/02/2017 01:13

I thought he didn't go but was invited? I remember Obamas speech for one including the line "is this dinner too tacky for the Donald?"

cozietoesie · 26/02/2017 01:26

I just can't remember. I know he was at the 2011 dinner - but any later ones? I don't know.

lionheart · 26/02/2017 01:46

This did make me laugh.

Lweji · 26/02/2017 01:49

I've seen that there has been some criticism of Presidents' attendance of the dinner. As in power and press cosying up to eachother too much.
Which is fine when there's mutual respect, I suppose.

AcrossthePond55 · 26/02/2017 04:16

LOVE that poster, lion!!

www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-dines-own-hotel-press-pool-23540

Trump had dinner at his own hotel last night. Farage at table. Reporters kept out.

I wonder if Americans are aware of the whole Paul Nuttall/Hillsborough/Stoke fiasco?

QueenOfThorns · 26/02/2017 06:48

The difference is that I feel sorry for the turtle...

Yes, I've finally caught up with a Trump thread! Grin

CussingQuim · 26/02/2017 07:32

I just hope the media ignores the insult and keeps on with the Russia stuff. Show him he can't phase them.

CussingQuim · 26/02/2017 07:32

Phase?! Faze! What is wrong with me? Hmm

Betcha THIS]] is why DT won't go to the Correspondents Dinner.

The press audience are in hysterics as Obama coolly makes a mockery jokes about DT.

Do watch Trump's face. It is obvious he has no sense of humour whatsoever. More so when it's at his expense. Bulldog chewing a wasp comes to mind. He refuses to even crack a smile and just sits there looking murderous. Unfortunately he is now getting his revenge.

The President usually attends and makes a lighthearted fun speech. He is absolutely incapable of that. Obama was exceedingly good at that.

Roussette · 26/02/2017 07:49

Tell a lie... having watched it again, he does at one point acknowledge the laughter... but by god that must've killed him.

amispartacus · 26/02/2017 08:02

There was a dinner for the candidates held before the election.

It's a traditional dinner held before an election.

www.politico.com/story/2016/10/donald-trump-alfred-smith-dinner-catholic-charity-hillary-clinton-230134

Trump then launched into a riff about the damaging emails hacked from her campaign chairman John Podesta’s gmail account, and released by WikiLeaks. It was poorly received.

“We’ve learned so much from WikiLeaks,” he said. “For example, Hillary believes it is vital to deceive the people by having one public policy and a totally different policy in private.”

As boos rained down, Trump interrupted the routine: “That’s OK, Hillary, I don’t know who they’re angry at: you or I.

2beesornot2beesthatisthehoney · 26/02/2017 08:04

Hurray got to the end of this thread, as I woke up early this am.
So I now know what GOP is and worked out POTUS and FLOTUS a few threads back , but what is SCROTUS please ( thinking it's a Mumsnet term linked to the ball sack? ) but does it actually stand for anything?

Roussette · 26/02/2017 08:08

*2bees" you do realise you now have to take a test to prove you have read and inwardly digested all the posts?! Grin

I too have no idea what SCROTUS stands for but presumed it was just a play on POTuS and likening the Orange One to a scrotum. That thought pleases me Grin

CaveMum · 26/02/2017 08:09

I've always assumed it's "So Called Ruler of the US".

DumbledoresApprentice · 26/02/2017 08:09

He doesn't seem to understand that sort of humour at all. He didn't find the Obama speech remotely funny and his own attempt at that charity dinner was pitched all wrong and completely fell flat on its face.

CaveMum · 26/02/2017 08:10

Oops, posted too soon.

It's just serendipitous that it likens him to a ball sack too Grin

merrymouse · 26/02/2017 08:23

So Pence will be attending the dinner on his behalf.

I wonder how that will go - will he make a speech? Will it be funny?

2beesornot2beesthatisthehoney · 26/02/2017 08:24

These posts have been bigly great for me . Do you think we could nonminate AmISpartacus to attend the Gaggle on our behalf ? Or GingerIvy if they ever let her back into the US now for providing so much fake news?

Excellent use of the word scrotum Grin

CussingQuim · 26/02/2017 08:29

Narcissistic people have real issues with humour in my experience. I think it can make them feel like outsiders.

amispartacus · 26/02/2017 08:32

Do you think we could nonminate AmISpartacus to attend the Gaggle on our behalf

I don't think US Immigration would let me in. They just need to look at my Twitter feed Grin

Roussette · 26/02/2017 08:38

Pence will be toast if he dares to make any jokes about the Administration or Trump. But given there's no other subject matter, no idea how he'll manage that if he gives a speech!

is Seth Meyers joking about Trump at one of the dinners In this clip DT's face is a picture, his jaw is set so firm and he is hating every second. Trump is unable to be self deprecating
BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 08:38

GOP is doing a Trump's first month approval survey. Enjoy! Grin
