If you have a bit of spare time and fancy a good read this essay is by a reporter who was with Yiannopoulos and his posse when the shit got real. It is really well written and I would recommend it. It is also a good counterpoint to the Anti-empathy article posted earlier as she shows a great deal of empathy without ever actually being sympathetic to them or their cause or pulling away from serious criticism.

Think even this is a set up Ginger, it's the art of goady politics. Everything he's doing is cheap thrills, costs nothing, and plays well to the home crowd, let's see how long the jobs take to come through. Opposition could do well to do the old 'it's the economy, stupid.' mantra. Get a focus and just hammer at that one, the LGBT attacks and demonstration ban are free advertising for him.

Focus on jobs should contrast with Obama who very quietly kept unemployment down, and solvency relatively stable.

Demonstrating 'rights' very limited in Britain after 1994 Public Order Act. In fact I'm not even sure they're legal here.

I really despair listening to those conservatives speaking of people doing it for themselves, and working not being on benefits and so on.
It seems great, until you find yourself too ill, or having to care about someone else, or simply can't get a job because there aren't enough, or the ones you can get don't pay enough (they don't bother raising minimum wage either).

It appears the authorities have already been told not to bother themselves too much about domestic violence cases, so he's effectively at least half way down the road to making it a non-crime.

Another point about low pay - when I was younger and living in the US, wait staff got lower wages, as they had to report their tips as wages as well. So their minimum wage was lower. That was years ago, not sure if it is still the same? Anyone in the US verify this?
