It turns out we're worrying for nothing.
Hillary won and all is fine and dandy. Grin

Trump is being prosecuted, Ivanka is selling white hoods, all is calm in the Sweden front, a bridge is being built between the US and Mexico, her approval ratings are sky high.

Surely, Democrats are also allowed alternative facts.

originalbiglymavis · 26/02/2017 08:42

I wouldn't feel right filling it in but every answer would be 'are you fucking having a laugh?'

Lweji · 26/02/2017 08:43

In fact, that would be a good joke at the dinner. Have a thoroughly flattering speech only to finish by saying that's what we'd expect under Hillary. Now for reality...

CaveMum · 26/02/2017 08:53

Did anyone see the Roast they did of Donald Trump in 2011? They tore him to shreds and he had to sit there and take it. It was beautiful!

Snoop Dogg said something about if he became President it wouldn't be the first time he'd forced a black family out of their home.

Here's a behind the scenes summary (very telling of the man I think): www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/the-inside-story-of-donald-trumps-comedy-central-roast-is-everything-you-thought-it-would-be_us_57fbed42e4b0e655eab6c191

The full thing is on YouTube, here are the highlights:

Lweji · 26/02/2017 08:56

That "survey":

"Now Take the Next Step

Thank you for assessing President Trump’s work. Your responses have been recorded.

President Trump understands that his sole job is to work for YOU.

But he needs your help getting our message and achievements past the fake news media filter, and straight to the citizens.

Please make a contribution today."

Fuckers. No shame at all.

The questions are interesting, but I loved having an other box.
What would you list as top priority for Trump? - me: resigning.

CussingQuim · 26/02/2017 08:58

Every question is well-worded (by which I mean "survey manipulation 101") which suggests some intelligent people in his administration at least?

BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 09:02

What would you list as top priority for Trump? - me: resigning

No that would a priority we could all get behind Grin

So Pence will be attending the dinner on his behalf.

It seems like Pence gets wheeled out whenever a modicum of restraint and political nous is needed. First that European NATO summit, now this. It's a pretty glaring admission that Trump is a liability.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 26/02/2017 09:13

Thanks also for the Turtle on a post. It gave me, DH & DS1 (11) a bloody good laugh.

Lweji · 26/02/2017 09:13

Or preparation for Pence to take the job...

BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 09:14

I've been spending the past couple of days adventuring around Twitter and rummaging around feeds of trump sceptic republicans. There seems to be a pretty active group of them who are willing to engage with some of the anti-trump left wingers when it comes to exposing trump's Russia links and corruption. They are an interesting bunch. Most definitely very conservative, but also very anti-trump. It will be interesting to see how this group vote during the mid-terms and whether any of them feel strongly enough to hold their noses and vote dem in protest. It is encouraging to see that there are those in GOP who haven't sold their souls completely.

I do think (hope?) it could be a clever way of making people like Pence by comparison to what could have been.

It might be the only hope of loosely uniting everyone - so republicans are still in power, but democrats don't have to have an utterly insane batshit bloke in charge.

Lweji · 26/02/2017 09:15

Yes, the questions are well worded and it's difficult to oppose some.
Except that they all have a "yes, but..." to them.

amispartacus · 26/02/2017 09:17

Yes, the questions are well worded and it's difficult to oppose some

Shown this before and I'll show it again..Yes Prime Minister

Lweji · 26/02/2017 09:26

For example, they have one asking if all pipelines should be made with American steel.

The natural answer would be yes. But it's something GOP opposed when Obama proposed something similar.

Another on limits to lobbying.
How can you say no, but you just know the regulation will have enough holes and it's not been pushed to the front of the queue?

amispartacus · 26/02/2017 09:31

For example, they have one asking if all pipelines should be made with American steel

Interesting:

OTOH - it provides jobs for Americans

OTOH - - it's probably more expensive compared to imported steel so US tax dollars need to pay for it so is it value for money?

lionheart · 26/02/2017 09:33

SCROTUS = Supreme Court Representatives of the United States but sometimes, more critically, Supreme Court Republicans of the United States.

Or, for the resisters: So Called President of the United States. Smile

Lweji · 26/02/2017 09:34

If it's national it's tax payers' dollars that go back into the community.
What is annoying is that they are being hypocrites about it.
They once rejected the idea and are now peddling it.

BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 09:37

Poor, desperate Farage. Now we voted for brexit nobody in the UK cares about him anymore. He just wants to be somebody! Grin

GOP is doing a Trump's first month approval survey. Enjoy!

I enjoyed that bigly Grin Did the 'other' response for every one and enjoyed writing lots of criticisms for the Orange One.

Top priority was to resign, and in extra comments bit I told them to sort it out and get rid of him and Bannon Grin

CussingQuim · 26/02/2017 09:53

Is the pick-up truck related to terrorist activity?

If I were (and I'm not, honest guv!) in charge of a terrorist cell, now would be the time to attack. Because it would divide the USA completely - pro-Trumps would be louder than ever, others would blame Trump.

BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 09:58

It's not clear yet cussing. I guess we can all just wait and see if Trump tweets about it or not. That will tell us the religion of the person responsible. Hmm

BiglyBadgers · 26/02/2017 10:00

Oh here we have more info. Seems like it was a drunk guy rather than anything more terroristy

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39094069

"One person was in custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police said, and terrorism was not suspected.
The driver of the pick-up truck seemed unaware of what he had done, one eyewitness told local media."

OP posts:

I think it was a drunk driver. If the driver had been a Muslim, I think we know how it would have been reported and who would have been straight on Twitter.

I've gone to the source MOST LIKELY to be the one to say if a Muslim was involved.

www.foxnews.com/us/2017/02/26/28-injured-after-car-plows-into-new-orleans-parade-crowd-suspect-in-custody.html

The suspect was described by Harrison as "highly intoxicated"; he is being investigated and is at the DWI office.

Twenty-one people were hospitalized after the crash with five victims in guarded condition. Seven others declined to be hospitalized, city Emergency Services Director, Dr. Jeff Elder said.

The victims range in age from as young as 3 or 4-years-old to adults in their 30s and 40s, said Elder.

One police officer stuck by a vehicle, but her injuries do not appear to be life threatening, according to Harrison.

When asked if this was terror related, Harrison said:

"Again, it appears it was a subject who was highly intoxicated who struck a number of vehicles and veered off hitting a number of innocent people."

A source in the parish government told Fox News earlier in the evening that the suspect was intoxicated and was shouting "kill me" as he was being taken away.

Emergency personnel tended to the injured as the parade rolled on nearby.
