Starting to see negative press on Ivanka, which IMO is not a bad thing. I think far too many people think she is not involved. I don't believe that for a moment.

Oh, okay, bigly, it's worse - Trump may just be copying his idiot supporters.

Roussette · 25/02/2017 16:26

That link to the Independent is appalling. So a family on $500,000 receives tax relief on childcare of $400 yet the lowest paid families receive just $150? That stinks.

And just who does she think she is? She's not been elected or appointed to any position in the Administration. I was prepared to give her a chance thinking that she might be a slightly positive influence on her father by by god she's just as bad. If I were an american I would be mightily pissed off that she is sitting in on news conferences and meetings, all whilst still being paid by the Trump organisation.

I like the independent headline

Donald Trump rejects intelligence report on travel ban because it doesn't say what he wants it to

I guarantee that the report will be shown to judges when the new EO comes into effect and gets legal challenges.

cozietoesie · 25/02/2017 16:37

Gosh. Is he really that 'florid' in real life?

AcrossthePond55 · 25/02/2017 16:40

Not really, Cozie. It's a bit too early for campaigning for 2020 (unless you're Scrotus, of course).

The DNC is going to be selecting it's Chair very soon. I expect once that's one they'll begin looking around for an 'up and comer' with the right 'cred'. I've a feeling that at this point they feel that Hillary, Bernie, Biden, and Schumer will be 'too old' for the next election. They'll be looking for someone in their late-40s to mid-60s with 'name recognition'. Someone with no questionable dealings or 'dirt' who has enough popularity with not only his/her own peers, but with more moderate Reps, to be able to get the Dem agenda through. And charisma. Not 'charm', charisma. I suggested Justin Trudeau, but I guess he doesn't qualify. Wink

As far as the mid-terms, those elections are state elections. The Representative for my district is up for reelection in Nov 2018, but I wouldn't expect campaigning to start until late this year and at this point no one is declaring intention to run. I'm not sure when the last date to declare candidacy is, IIRC it's like 3 months before the election.

I'm hoping that once the DNC selects its Chair, that the will begin to be a more organized public 'pushback' by the Dems in Congress. I'm just not seeing a lot of standing together and making statements over the bullshit that's going on. Hopefully they're just waiting until they have an official 'spokesperson'. Because it's getting ridiculous.

What?

AcrossthePond55 · 25/02/2017 16:45

Gavin Newsom certainly seems to fit the bill, Cozie. We really like him as our Lt Gov. But he's running for Gov in 2018. I'm not sure he'd want to be running a 'double campaign' as the Pres electioneering will be gearing up about the same time as things will be getting serious for the mid-terms.

cozietoesie · 25/02/2017 16:47

You can 'campaign' without it being official of course, Across. You just have to watch out not to give any Sherman pledges. Wink

I just have this strong instinct that some sort of 'focus' is needed. At the moment, If I were in the Oval Office, I'd characterise activity as 'headless chickens running around'. (Sorry.) Any activity needs to be 'directed' now - sooner the better I feel.

cozietoesie · 25/02/2017 16:48

Goodness. He could do both at the same time! Wink

It's appalling isn't it Arborea.

Interestingly, his wife would've been a priority to be deported in 1996 under the deportations he's implementing.. She earned money as a model whilst on a tourist visa violating the terms of entry. I want someone to say that directly to DT at his next press conference and ask for his comment on it.

GingerIvy · 25/02/2017 17:07

I really wish someone in that gaggle would have gone on record saying to Angry Spice - "So, you're looking to control the amount of fake news floating about, I guess that means you'll be confiscating Trump's phone so he can't tweet then??" Grin
