Crisp sandwich - normal, right?

I LOVE a crisp sandwich. Especially with salt n vinegar crisps. Was thinking I'd love one earlier (but no crisps in the house) and then remembered a friend thinking I was totally bonkers for having crisps in a sandwich.

Anyone else? Or is my friend right and I'm totally bonkers...?!

On that note, any other 'out of the norm' sandwich fillings you all in enjoy?

I've never had a chip buttie either Shock what?!? I literally cannot have chips without making a buttie.

Davros · 23/02/2017 15:15

There was a pop up crisp sandwich cafe in London recently. Not sure where, probably Shoreditch near the Cereal Killer Cafe Grin
Crisp sandwiches must be served with a big cuppa, as must most lunchtime food.
DH likes a banana and Branston pickle sandwich with plain crisps.

Thick white bread with real butter and Tayto Cheese&Onion crisps - The perfect "time of the month" cure with a bottle of Lucozade!

AdaColeman · 23/02/2017 15:17

I've never had a crisp sandwich in my life, and probably never will.

Other strange fillings ~ when I was a child Mum sometimes used to make bread and butter with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on, Fairy Bread!

I quite fancy trying a hot meat pie in a bun! Grin

Badhairday1001 · 23/02/2017 15:18

Mynestisfullofempty - you need to try both, get yourself to the shop. I think that Lurpack works perfectly for the butter. I'm actually jealous that you have this new tasty treat to experience for the first time.

Unicorn81 · 23/02/2017 15:18

Roll with salt n vinegar mccoys, urgh i want it now!mmmmmmmmmm

Springersrock · 23/02/2017 15:20

I love crisp sandwiches. Grated cheese with cheese and onion crisps

My favourite is baked beans, mushroom and bacon toasties. DH thinks it's all kinds of wrong to put baked beans in a toastie but they're lush!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 23/02/2017 15:21

Crisp sandwiches are so lovely especially mixed with ham and cheese. I'm actually surprised that there are people out there who have never had a crisp sandwich.

harderandharder2breathe · 23/02/2017 15:22

Omg chip butties are the best!

SemiNormal · 23/02/2017 15:23

Cheese, coleslaw and cheese & onion Hula Hoops in a roll are delicious!

Other favourites are cheese & onion crisps (have to be Walkers) and Philidelphia in a white bread sandwich

or

Prawn cocktail (Walkers) with grated mature chedder Cathederal City in a white bread sandwich

SurlyValentine · 23/02/2017 15:23

Two slices of Warburtons Toastie loaf, a soupcon fuckton of real butter to stick the crisps to the bread, and Walkers salt and vinegar. Cannot be beaten.

How on earth have people gone their whole lives without a crisp butty, or a chip barm, come to that?!?! That's frankly outrageous, and you would be justified in ringing Childline! Grin

PuffinBadger · 23/02/2017 15:25

Crisps can never be wrong.

michelle303 · 23/02/2017 15:26

I LOVE a crisp butty! Cheese and onion is my fav flavour to have on there. You're not alone!

Mynestisfullofempty · 23/02/2017 15:26

Blush I've just asked my husband and he's never had a crisp sandwich or a chip buttie either.

kel1234 · 23/02/2017 15:26

Only posted once but obviously it needed to get the point across.

booklooker · 23/02/2017 15:31

I have been eating crisp sarnies since the 60's

I am a bit more refined these days and I like to add a few slices of tomato (ticks one of my five)

Man10 · 23/02/2017 15:34

I used to have this for supper on the train to boarding school. (Overnight sleeper.)

Half a loaf of fresh bread, scoop out the middle with your hand, eat that, then pour a bag of crisps into the cavity. Squash the sides of the loaf together to crush the crisps inside, and start eating.

Mountainsofmothermadness · 23/02/2017 15:34

My husband loves them - heathen

adsincroydon · 23/02/2017 15:35

I'm not a fan of crisp sandwiches. A chip butty or a super noodle sandwich on the other hand.... hmm heaven!
