Saving car park space

Today whilst I was taking my five year old to
Hospital appointment I circled the car park 3 times looking for some where to park . It was getting closer to His appointment time , I spotted a space being emptied in my rear view mirror so drove around again (4th time ) I noticed a black vw pull in to the car park behind me stop and a lady in her late 40's jump out when I got around to the possible available space , said lady was stood in the car space I indicated to enter it , wound down my window and asked if she could move please . She said she couldn't as she was reserving the space .
I pointed out that you can't just stand in a spot to reserve it and the only way the spot could be reserved is by the hospital policy she carried on standing there , I admit I did at this point lose my temper and told her to move her effing ass or I will be at liberty to mow "ur bitch ass down " she told me her husband is waiting to get in the spot to which I told who effing cares I plonk my car ; as much as I could in the space. Me and my little boy got out and got a ticket to my return to a very very angry husband who if I didn't move my car was going to report me to the hospital security. He banged my car , kicked the wheel , I put the ticket in and walked off car half in half out .
I never been so angry with them and my self why does parking make us all insane !

You have anger issues.

BumWad · 21/02/2017 19:01

I think you are getting a bit of a hard time here OP.

I would have the rage too! YANBU

AnneElliott · 21/02/2017 19:02

I understand why you swore. I gave a woman a mouthful too when she asked me if I was leaving the car park ( ie I should hurry up) when I was trying to get a tantrumimg baby into his car seat.

Probably not my finest hour but that woman probably thinks twice about passive aggressive behaviour in car parks!

I would have yelled at your woman too!

WhispersOnTheWind · 21/02/2017 19:03

YANBU - what a pair of arses and I'd have definitely been thinking what you said but would probably have given a more toned down version out loud. Hope everything goes well with your little boy's hearing aids.

MadMags · 21/02/2017 19:05

Waitrose have you bothered to RTFT?

madmoon · 21/02/2017 19:17

Well said Waitrose ! Hadn't notice

Anneelliot sometime I think ppl think everyone else owes them something, trying to get any child into a car can be a mission , and. Screaming one even harder ,

YWNBU - I've done very similar, having circled our hospital car park a couple of times, getting increasingly annoyed at the lack of parking spaces and increasingly aware of our son's appointment time ....

But I had to laugh at the thread, at all the early responders who said that you should have used that kind of language in front of your son - in my head, I was thinking "Maybe the child couldn't hear" Smile Our son is also deaf and doesn't wear hearing aids; whilst we don't swear at him, he has been within earshot of some rather choice swear words during his seven years!!

madmoon · 21/02/2017 19:49

Eggysmom I guess some of us aren't so perfect.
Although I might now have to watch what I am saying.

I would have done the same thing as you OP - but I have no class Grin

Marylou2 · 21/02/2017 20:21

I bet you were shaking by the time you got into hospital OP. Hope your little one's appointment went well. No wonder you were stressed. Parking spaces are first come first served but you actually have to have your car with you. They sound crazy.

madmoon · 21/02/2017 20:25

I was shaking and crying ( don't u just hate that when you get so angry you cry like a real dope ) plus in my paranoia I thought he was going to get my car towed and rang my oh to apologise ( he was more concerned that he only bought it a week ago and it was going to have a dent in it. )

Stroke the furry wall
Apparently I have no class too , so you can join my club 😝

Maybe the language wasnt the best but yanbu, I would have gone apeshit if someone had done that to me - and even more if they had kicked my carGrin hospital parking is a nightmare so please dont feel bad, its done now and hopefully those twats wont try the same again.

Chloe84 · 21/02/2017 20:36

YANBU OP.

A woman was standing guard in the only free disabled bay when I took my mum shopping the other day (mum has a BB). I did ask woman to move but she said she was waiting for her disabled son. I had no idea of knowing if this was true but gave her the benefit of doubt and we parked in a normal, cramped bay (which meant I couldn't open the door fully for mum which she needs).

If she didn't have a good reason, I would have asked her to move.

hmcAsWas · 21/02/2017 20:44

We all lose our shit sometimes OP and later regret it - that is, those of use who are fallible human beings do!

bunnylove99 · 21/02/2017 20:53

Clearly it wasn't your finest hour OP, but I certainly can't criticise you as I imagine I'd have lost my temper too in the circs. I would then have been full of remorse and vow to learn and grow from it...possibly by just turning up with more time to park next time! Put it out your mind and move on.

Rightontheschnozz · 21/02/2017 20:54

You were well within your rights to have that space. Good on you for claiming it. Also, what's wrong with a few choice words when some idiot is reserving a space. As if you do! I'd of casually just asked her to shift and then proceeded to drive in anyway.

redpriestandmozart · 21/02/2017 21:07

Currently working my way through every season of Desperate Housewives and when I read this post I read it in Gabby Solis voice, she would rant exactly in this manner :) so I'm loving it, woman deserved it and hope you feel better now.

WaitrosePigeon · 21/02/2017 21:35

MadMags, yes. My response still stands.

Ohyesiam · 21/02/2017 22:06

This had probably been said upthread, but the really, properly unreasonable thing is that the hospital had so little parking that patients and their families get into such stressful situations. I bet it's not cheap either.
Op, you sound like you have a plateful there, good luck with it all.
