Or turning into a aul hag..............

So today I decided the Eyebrows needed a good pluck (I've got a great little Ikea lamp that shows all the strays)

Anyway, I found 3.
THREE big curly black hairs! at an inch long! just sat, growing there (smug bastards) from my chin and neck. (Neck wtf?)
And I'm going grey!

Do you have any signs, ???

Lighthearted.

Anti grinch I can remember seeing people who would have been among the first punks on my first trip to London.

TisMeTheLadFromTheBar · 21/02/2017 23:22

When my friend had her baby, I was in my early 20's. He is a teenager now.
I have just realised I am a year older than I thought I was because we've started a new year 😭
I have white ribs on my head. I started a sentence with "when we were young -back in the day" to my niece a few weeks ago.

Thattwatoverthere · 21/02/2017 23:27

Hairy toes

The random hair I had on my chin in my twenties that needed plucking every couple of months? Now a forest that I have to tend to every morning. With added top lip hairs.

So many more moles on my body. That seem to be inflating so they stick out.

Pottering when I get home from work and the thrill of my new tumble drier

2 months hard graft at the gym has made me fatter!! . Guessing that's the metabolism going then Hmm

36 and yet to find a DH or have DCs. I probably ought to get a move on whilst all of the above can be hidden...

I wear big granny knickers during my time of the month' because they are comfy I discovered them when I was pregnant Blush

dowhatnow · 21/02/2017 23:40

When meeting up with friends you haven't seen for a while and you spend the first half hour discussing each other's ailments.

When you are happy to visit friends and stay in rather than go out.

Littlebatcalledlucille · 21/02/2017 23:40

TismMe nothing wrong with a pair of granny knickers any time of the month! who want's a cold hole?

Looking forward to watching "Question Time" around the time of Brexit, Trump's election etc.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 21/02/2017 23:50

Oh god, a massive yes to the baffling trousers of young men. I find them endearingly silly and got a bit choked up at the weekend at the sight of a boy rocking a full Mr.Tumnus (beard, exposed chest in low cut top, gym bunny thighs, super tight trousers, hairy ankles). It was just so sweet to watch him swagger past...

People watching in general (and treating the youth of today like my own personal wildlife show, in particular) is becoming an increasing problem for me too. Clearly!

Archimandrite · 21/02/2017 23:56

Just thought of two more dreadful ones:
Last Christmas my brother bought me a stretchy, waist warmer to slip on to keep my dodgy back and dodgy kidney snug.

The Christmas before he bought me a plug-in heated pad for my achey joints and bad back.

I was very excited about both presents double and have used them both a lot.

Oh and you know how teachers look young. My DD IS a teacher. She can't be. She's still technically grounded from the time when she and her friends all bunked off school, went to the park and ended up having to call the fire brigade when one of them got stuck at the top of a wall.

facedontfit · 22/02/2017 00:06

Elasticated waists
Chin hairs
Shoes for comfort not 5 in heels not style
Weeing in the middle of the night

MattMurdock · 22/02/2017 01:01

Saw a group of early 20's girls heading towards the bus stop for town one Autumn when I was late 30's.

They were wearing very little, but instead of looking and thinking "hello ladies" I looked and thought "They'll fucking freeze" that was a wake up call that I was officially middle aged!

atheistmantis · 22/02/2017 04:54

Meeting your child's sixth form teacher and realising that you thought they were a student - some of ds's tutors are only three or four years older than him.

humanfemale · 22/02/2017 06:32

I've stopped buying new clothes and shoes, and started buying nice mugs and soft furnishings.

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2017 06:40

little, love this thread.
im only at the stage where i look at those little catalogues -- my dad, unfortunately, buys from them!! That will be the next stage of 'old age' from me when the Hermes lady turns up with something nice out of it - once i buy the wolf patterned poncho thing that was in one of them ( and really was hideous) then i know its game over.

Dontfencemein · 22/02/2017 06:46

Looking at professionals and thinking "Good grief, they're young". I flew on a certain budget airline recently and when I saw the pilots boarding, I thought they ought to be at home studying for GCSEs. Same with a pharmacist I saw last week.

ThisThingCalledLove · 22/02/2017 08:20

YY to professionals seeming so young. A very nice and kind (and attractive) doctor recently held my hand, and was generally lovely, during a painful procedure and instead of thinking "oh I like him" I thought "oh he's someone's lovely son".

No doubt if my DD wasn't a lesbian (which also makes me feel old Grin) I would have also thought "he would make a lovely son in law" thereby completing my transition to typical elderly Jewish mother. My DCs already call me Beverly Goldberg

ThisThingCalledLove · 22/02/2017 08:21

No offence meant to elderly Jewish mothers out there btw, we are lovely WinkGrin

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 22/02/2017 08:31

My contribution - I bought a bed tray/table thingy. I love it, makes my iPad just the right height.
I'm old enough to be a Nan, my sister who is a year younger than me has a daughter who is 35 this year. I still remember her as a stroppy teenager.
On the plus size, I no longer care what "people" think about me, and wear what I want.

heavenlypink · 22/02/2017 08:48

What puzzles me is the chin hairs seem to sprout overnight! I had a white curly one appear the other day. Couldn't find the tweezers - but oddly enough I was able to pull it out Confused

Gwilt160981 · 22/02/2017 08:51

Some days I wake up and I ache all over.

All these people on telly who look older than me are younger than me.

Gwilt160981 · 22/02/2017 08:52

Forrid lines thank god for anti wrinkle cream 👍

greenmidgetgems · 22/02/2017 09:17

Being unsure what age I am and having to do a bit of mental arithmetic to work it out.

June 2016 minus 1975, yeah I'm 41.

I have bought things from the Kleeneze catalogue. Sheet straps are a thing of genius.

Trying to be down with the kids and funny and cool with DSD and her mates but failing miserably and getting disdainful blank stares.

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2017 09:26

Teenagers actually scare me a bit - especially in town when the girls hunt in packs with their glossy hair and look of contempt at anyone over the age of 20! I shuffle past them.
